Hya guys, does anyone know what happens after a xray?
My dad had one on his lungs Thursday and after working himself in to a frenzy thinking that we would have the results there and then, he went in to the room and within 5 minutes in was being brought bk to me all done. The assistant just said that the doctor would be intouch.
How long does it usually take for the doctor to get in touch?

Hi Melissa, my doctor usually has results of X-rays done at my hospital, within 2 days. I think it takes longer to get results from larger hospitals. A week should be plenty of time.
I have always called my GP within about 10 days I'm sure they get them sooner and if anything needs to be done they will call you, good luck I hope they come back clear
Hi Melissa87, the saying is no news is good news. Be assured if there is any doubt about the results you will know within days, if clear about ten days. If it was a consultant request you would have the results same day. Hope this info helps, stay calm and take care x
As Melissa87 says no new is good news, I had a CT scan over 6 weeks ago as they suspected I had cancer, still no news, one doctor said if there is anything seriously wrong they will be very quick in getting in touch. The people taking the x-rays are not doctors therefore they wont comment on your photos as they are not qualified. Best wishes Tatters.
Yes that's what I thought, no news is good news but it's niggling at the back of my mind. It must be worrying my dad too but I tend not to mention it. Monday tomorrow so who knows.
I wouldn't worry to much if the X-ray showed any thing to be concerned about your dad would have been seen by a doctor as with my husband had an X-ray and it showed fluid on his longs so they got a doc to look at him. Hope things are ok. Take care xx
