rough day

hi all, just a few questions for the lovley lung family. It’s been 5 weeks since diagnosis of blood clot on lung and I’m on blood thinners but is it possible to have a bad day. I’ve been getting on ok but the last two day have been horrible, I don’t feel unwell as such but feel a bit breathless at rest and still getting pains in between shoulder blades, my legs ache and I feel a bit disconnected. Is this normal or should I be worried, I also suffer with really bad anxiety so don’t know what to make of it all. My anxiety want me to run to hospital but my self says just sit it out it will pass, which devil on my shoulder should I listen to??. Have a healthy and happy day and thanks for reading

Without trying to add to your anxiety......Reasons to feel disconnected: fever (take your temperature), low blood sugar (i get this along with jelly legs when blood sugar drops), blood pressure (take your BP & check online charts), dehydration?

I cant think of anything else to my very limited knowledge Cimmy, if youre really worried see your gp if you can or call 111. All the best, P

Oh crumbs, I'm so sorry, I'd forgotten about you PE! No wonder you're anxious, do get checked out by your gp, respiratory team or consultant - perhapsyou could emailhis/her secretary to pass on your symptoms. I'm sure it takes a while to get back to normal. Good luck with it all, thinking of you. P

Hello Cimmy

I can’t really add to what we have already spoken about. I think it is still early days in recovering from PEs but I do think you would be entitled to get more help from your GP. Can you do that?

PEs are scary. You need all the reassurance you can get.

Yes when I had mine I was absolutely terrified but nowadays I am fine and know the signs now and I am religious about taking my anticoagulant.

I remember just after I was sent home from the hospital after I had my PE back in 2017 I was absolutely terrified and had gone to a and e in fright when I had cramping pain in my leg which thankfully was just a muscle cramp and didn't mean anything!

Before I was diagnosed I had leg cramping but hadn't thought much of it and when I started treatment it went away and so did the lung symptoms as well.

Nowadays I am fitter than I was before the PE happened which I feel looking back had been building up over time until the crisis in 2017 when I had dragged myself into a and e seriously ill!

It sounds as if you need to talk to your GP or nurse, if only to have your mind set at rest.

Don't sit there worrying as that could make you feel worse. Speak to your GP or 111. That's what they're there for. If they can reassure you, you will probably feel better for knowing things are OK.

If they think you should be checked over, the same applies and if A&E is recommended, go there.

I know that anxiety can bring on a whole range of symptoms for me. Once I know there's nothing serious going on, the symptoms often go away quite quickly.

Better safe than sorry is my motto. Definitely give someone a call.

Hope you soon feel better.

That's what I find sitting at home makes worries worse than they need to be.

Hi, my mum had clots on her lungs and she was given self injections of something which eventually dissolved the clots. I think you should ring your doctor or health professional just to put your mind at rest especially with anxiety as well 🤔. Good luck

Get checked out if you are worried, but yes, bad days are normal. Years on, I still get occasional pains between the shoulder blades and I’m frequently breathless at rest, especially in this hot weather. Yesterday evening I had to increase my oxygen because I was struggling. Good luck!

I’d speak to a medic x

I think as the saying goes "if in doubt check it out" I am sure your gp could help with this x
