hi, i have just been notified after a CT scan that i have a shadow on my lung. Being sent for a chest CT, but was wondering if this could be scarring from acute pancreaitis and stent procedure i have done 3 years ago. any help/advice much appreciated.

Hello pansy, welcome to the site and it's nice to meet you.

It's really difficult to be told that something's not right and just be left hanging there until they do further investigations to tell you what that something is. I'm sorry but I don't think it's possible for anyone here to tell you what's going on but we can still try to support you.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for the chest scan and do please let us know what the outcome is.

Take care.

Hello pansy

I haven't a clue if stents may cause a shadow, but many years ago l had several bouts of acute pancreatitis due to a problem with my bile duct.

Over the years since, l have had many chest x-rays, and in my case it has never caused a shadow on my lungs.

The best advice l can give you, although you may find it hard, is try not to worry yourself sick....there is nothing you can do until you have had your chest scan, and get the results....l hope you get a quick appointment.

Good luck

xx

Hi Pansy, Back in July I had two xrays six weeks apart both of which showed a white consolidation at the bottom of my right lung, was sent to respiratory clinic and cat scan arranged and carried out within days, went back for results only to be told that whatever it was had disappeared and so I definitely didn't have lung cancer. Brilliant news but the mystery still remains what was it and where has it gone.

Yes could be scarring caused by lots of things including viral infection. May not necessarily lead to anything and can stay dormant without any noticeable symptoms. It is good that it is being followed up. Try not to worry as there is a good chance that it is nothing to worry about. Best wishesxx
