Hi, I hope all goes well with your bone scan. I have COPD & Asthma & I have been regularly using my walking stick since June. I am told the pain is from my facet joints (artheritis) & that this often happen with copd when people cough a lot. I have been coughing a lot more with hay fever this year. I am given Co-codamol & at the moment If I rest for a couple of days but do the back exercises It does seem to control it. At least until the next tablets are due.

I have not had this investigated yet but I did wonder: Is it my Hypothyroidism, a beggar for aches & pains, Statins? Inhaled & oral steroids? Osteoporosis. It varies at the moment from mild to excruitating pain; if I get more periods of the latter I will ask for a scan. take care, Margaret x

Thankyou Margaret I would just like to know why it keeps coming back every few months at least the scan may show something and I can have something that will ease the pain x

Hi Jeanjt I suffer from Osteoarthritis in the lower spine and when the pain gets too much I use Codeine Phosphate 30mg x 2 tablets four times a day. They do make me feel a bit nauseous though so only use them if I really feel the need. It is important to rest your back when in pain as much as possible.

You can see from my icon how it affects me (not joking). 😬

I hope you feel better soon.

Regards. John

Hi Jean, please do not panic over the bone scan. I was sent 4 years ago and the scan showed some loss of bone strength due to the steroids. I returned for the next scan 6 months ago and yes my bones had deteriorated, even though I have now been well for 2 years. I now do weightbearing exercises which is difficult for me as I have arthritis and I am disabled, however, I carry on walking up and down stairs and doing other weight bearing exercises. I hope this is helping but I will not know until I return in 2.5 years for the next scan. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Take care, Maximonkey
