Hi Kim I have osteoporosis I'm on an injection I can't remember the name I know it starts with a p I get it every twice a year.i also take vit d and calcium every day.
I'll look up the name of the injection over the weekend and post it for you.
Hi Kim, hope your new medicaton works better for you. The doctor says I may have to go on this alendronic acid stuff folllowing recent spinal fractures . Had a dexa scan this week to see if osteoporosis might be present and should know the reults by the end of the coming week. Keep well, Lovelight x
Don't rule it out my brother in law takes it and he's fine, but it doesn't unit everyone. Xxx
Hi Alendronic acid did not suit me either but doc didnt offer me anything else
polly xx
I could not use alendronic acid and was given strontium renelate. Then someone realised I don't move around so much and very quickly took me off it. It was the first time I understood the words "controlled panic"! Apparently it can cause blood clots if you are not fully mobile. Now I just take the Adcal tablets. x.
I was prescribed Alendronic acid few years ago and also adcal, well I couldnt take Alendronic acid cos I need to swallow pills with food, well instructions were to take 1 pill with a whole glass of water, so in the end I just didnt bother, then to find out they can cause blood clots if not fully mobile, which I am not, I already had lots of TIAs (mini strokes), and it was same hospital where i was treated by an op that suggested the drugs, well you can imagine how I felt after reading the side effects, we do our bodies best and and I also went with my gut feeling thank goodness I did, although I do not take any drug in its place and im no worse now bone-wise than two years ago.
