More Play Space For The Cats And Shed Is Almost Ready...

The shed is almost finished...I mean everything is sorted out and has been put away tidily...the floor is still damp in the corners but the cat litter is doing a sterling job of absorbing the excessive moisture...I'll just keep removing it when it's sodden and replace with fresh until such time as it's dried right out...

It has been sunny today so Himself left the door wide open from early this morning...that helps of course. Liberal applications of damp cloths soaked in vinegar has got rid of the mould...it's almost ready to be used once more.

The stupid bird has gone to the pet shop...he was quite incredibly boring...the pet shop man thought he was wonderful...takes all sorts. Himself had a sack of dog biscuit in lieu of payment.

Now Molly and Murphy can go into the garden room...one of the tiny sash windows in the kitchen will open with the aid of a sharp hammer blow so they can leap through there whenever they choose...poor Molly is always hell bent on escape and haunts the back door ready to dash out the minute anyone opens it...having access to more space suits her, though I suppose it won't be too long before she wishes she could escape from there as well...

Murphy sat on the window sill for ages before taking the plunge...he keeps coming back into the sitting room, to check we're still here I suppose.

One of the best 'cages' I've seen for indoor cats was much like an aviary built onto the back of the house with access through a cat flap in the back door...the wire cage had a tree growing in the middle of it and a sturdy wire roof to stop cats from escaping into the wild blue yonder...

They could loll about on the grass or climb the tree when they felt energetic...they were Maine Coon cats...huge furry creatures that needed to be groomed every day...they weighed a ton but were very gentle and sweet natured...just as well they were.

The birds are beginning to sing in the very early mornings...not quite a full blown dawn chorus just yet...but it's getting there.

Take out battery straight away or it short circuits (as I know to my cost) and place in a container of rice. Will absorb wet!

So the cats are still indoors Vashti ? That must be difficult, watching the door all the time and them trying to work off their energy on the furniture. My youngest cat I kept inside for about four months. I bought a small collar and lead and walked her round the garden and the front of the house for a few weeks so she'd know her way around. It seemed to work because, even though she wandered a bit, she always came back. Now that I'm thinking of your cats, did you know that Lidl are doing cat toys this week ? I bought a play tunnel ( with holes they can pop in and out of) and a sort of drum shaped nail sharpener fabric with a little ball dangling inside. They won't have anything to do with them, the ungrateful little sods. Another €20 down the drain. I think they're just too old and that the toys are geared at kittens and young cats. Glad the shed is coming along and that the weather will get fine enough for you to use it.

See what I mean about how much you do acomplish; so pleased your shed is drying out. I like the idea of a cat aviary; i guess your increased traffic flow is troubling. I used to have a mouse toy that squeaked and ran across the floor; Ollie found it fascinating. Problem was it was a cat toy & his sharp teeth ripped it to shreds. x

Rice is definitely the way to dry out mobile phones. A sack of rice would certainly dry the shed too, but would probably be too messy. It might also attract unwanted critters.
