Hi Donitasue
I have Asthma as well as COPD, and essential oils aggravate both conditions for me.

Welcome to the site Donitasue
Essential oils would probably be an irritant to your lungs. Hope we get to see more of you on the site.ππ

Like Swerv, I take cannabis oil. I don't know of anything else that helps with COPD. My COPD is severe and has improved from being on the cusp of very severe. I'm hoping for equally good results at my next CT scan.
Be wary of using oils if you are an oxygen user.

Oil and grease are particularly hazardous in the presence of oxygen as they can ignite spontaneously and burn with explosive violence."

I don't use essential oils Donitasue. But in addition to my usual meds i do regularly use herbs (which you can get as essential oils) which are said to help the chest, or just inflammation generally:
Cinnemon, turmeric, sage, thyme, and ginger. I keep pretty well, no way of telling if those are helping or not but anyway they taste nice
Goodmorni folks, I just woke up,kinda slept in.well guess I won't be using those oils, that would definitely scare me to do more harm than good.I'm happy with all responses, thank you.I'll stick with what I got,my I don't wanna feel any worse.I'll chat again,I'm happy they have these sites.
Just to clarify. Cannabis oil is not to be confused with essential oils. It is not an essential oil.
Hello,I'll check it out, like the people say the oils might be harmful, but don't hurt to check it out, maybe a cure will come one day,it would be wonderful.ya know, what the heck did people do back when? My mom had emphysema, & she never took anything that I remember,so maybe all this stuff we are taking,is why its so bad on us,wish we knew the answer,it would sure help lots of folks out there.have a good day...
Medical marijuana was legally approved recently in Illinois. However it's only approved for certain diseases and unfortunately, COPD isn't on the list. So....perhaps I'll do some research, find out where I can obtain it legally and take a trip. Am glad it's working for you. How wonderful!
Callingsusan, you're on the money there. COPD is not listed for approval for medical marijuana. However chronic pain IS and with COPD there is often chronic pain. Doctors are aware of this so a discussion should take place with your doctor about medical mj restrictions.
Also in the dispensaries often you will find they don't stock true cannabis oil but a tincture, though it's called cannabis oil. You would need to take very large doses of tincture for relief of COPD symptoms.
I was advised to use red thyme oil in a diffuser , candles are ok but it's better just to put some into a bowl of hot water . It's quite stone so I add some bergamot oil to it , a man who had cancer advised me to use it it helps with the immune system
Thanks a bunch...
