have had a cold for 3 weeks now, getting fed up, does this warrant a trip to the Doc's for antibiotics or do I ride it out?

cold
do you feel chesty or bring up more phlem is your breathing worse than normal if so get checked out ,
Hi doctors can't do anything about colds, only if it has gone on your chest and has become a chest infection. There is a spate of long lasting colds in my area at the moment and mine lasted over 3 weeks. It took longer to stop coughing so much. x
Hi, if it's just a cold you've got, you don't need antibiotics. They won't help you.
Take paracetamol instead.
On the other hand, if you've got a chest infection, you may need abs.
If you've got a temperature, tight feeling or pain in your chest, coughing up yellow or green coloured phlegm, then I would phone the GP & make an appointment.
Hope you feel better soon 😀
Colds are viruses and not susceptible to ABs, the-db. Hope it doesn't reach your chest but if it is does "go down" get to your GP asap.
Hi
Some of the colds going round are dragging on for weeks.
I agree with the others...if it goes onto your chest or affects your breathing...get to your doctors.
I hope you feel better soon

A cold should clear up in ten days any longer and it's generally more than a cold. Why not have a word with your pharmacist, they will tell you if they think you should see a doctor or give you some advice on over the counter meds.i find them very helpful and have saved me a few trips to the doctors. My daughter went once and they sent her straight to A&E with dangerously high bp.
If the gunk is dark yes.
If you dropped a fiver and could not be bothered to pick it up Yes
If you have pain in the lungs Yes
You know your body the best, 3 weeks is a long time to have a cold but this stupid weather is not helping anyone.
Be Well
Thank you all
