Battling cold

I've got my first cold since emphysema/asthma diagnosis two years ago. Mainly a nasty cough, which is not typical of my condition. My questions is at what point do I call my GP or pulmonologist? Also, which one of them would you call? I've only had it for two days. Hasn't really affected my breathing at this point. Thanks

Hi ,hope your cold isn't to bad, I would phone your GP and have you considered having your flu jab. 😊 Bernadette xx

I would call my GP and have a quick once over. Hopefully it will stay in your head 😋and not move down into your chest. Get well soon and ditto on the flu shot and pneumonia shot.

GP. keep on top of these colds. They can get in your chest easily.

Thanks all for replies. Well, it has moved into my chest since I said I have a nasty cough. I have had flu and pneumonia shots. My partner has had this going on 2 weeks now. She feels better but is still coughing some. She picked it up from two little darling visiting for Thanksgiving. I think I'll wait a little while and see how things progress.

I would only call my gp if i felt my cold was affecting my breathing. Or i started coughing up lumaness green gunk. In the mean time i would start with efavesant vit c tablets to help see off that nasty cold

Check in with your gp if only for re assurance.

Suggest you start with seeing your GP, he knows you better and can advise what you should do. I'm surprised that with your condition you have not already been given a "standby Pack" which normally consists of antibiotics & prednisalone a steroid.

Helllo, IKeith and thanks for the reply. I called my pulmonologist and she said to come right in. She got me fixed up and I feel much better one day later: antibiotics, prednisone, codeine cough medicine, chest x-ray, flu and strep swabs. Lucky for me, both my GP and lung doc are at the same hospital just about a mile from my house. I was out and back home in 45 minutes.
