Hi all,I have mild COPD but I am not sleeping very well( wake up several times a night) and feel like I have no energy and tired all the time, is this par for the course?

Hi Huffalong, not sure that COPD will actually stop you having a good sleep. Think it's up to the individual, what other health problems there may be.
It could be stress stopping you sleeping. If you're worrying about your condition.
I have COPD & have no trouble sleeping. I do like to sleep on a higher pillow than I used to,so that I'm not lying flat.
You could give BLF a ring & ask for advice or have a chat with your GP.
Hope you get a better sleep soon 🌻
Hi Jessy1,Thanks for your reply I tried two pillows last night and it seems to help.
Hi Huffalong, that's great you had a better sleep!
Sometimes it's just the smallest of things that's makes us feel better.
I find with my head raised a bit, I sleep comfortably. I tend to sleep on my right side which also helps with your breathing.
I hope this solves your problem & you have more nights of good sleep 💐
Hi I am the same - mild copd and feel tired and drained a lot. I think a good diet is essential as I know I always feel better after a good healthy meal. You may also be lacking some vitamins so have a chat with your doctor. x
Thank you all for your comments , I also have micro vascular angina so maybe that is the problem. I also suffer with hot flushes which seem to make my breathing worse.Anyone else has the same problem.?
I used to wake up 4-6 times a night, but improved greatly to 2-3 times through reflexology. Now I've been diagnosed with high blood pressure and prescribed Ramipril, and I either sleep through the night or only waken once. I think it was to do with water retention rather than directly related to COPD, though the two often go hand in hand.
Hello Huffalong,
No, it is not par for the course. I would discuss with your GP and have a sleep test if possible. This will tell you if you are getting sufficient oxygen DURING your sleep, which is very important.
I have sleep apnoea, the condition resulting from low oxygen during sleep, having symptoms like yours. I use a CPAP machine and mask to alleviate this.
Hope this helps.
