Why is it that prednisolone is fantastic at making you feel euphoric but at the same time not letting me sleep well so here I am at 5.30 -6.30am writing this.its a necessary medication for me at flare ups and feel like superwoman during the day after 1 dose of 8 tablets but restless at night

Hi BOxermad

For some years now I have wheezing with my COPD and drives me mad when trying to sleep and have just lived with it

I finished my prednisolone tablets for chest infection over 2 weeks ago now and still feel so good with no wheezing at all at the moment and have not even had to use my ventolin inhaler.

But you say wheezing do come back after a while

o dear that's a shame thought it may have gone for good or for a long time .

Best wishes

Hi yes I wish it stayed away also but seems to creep back in now and again after the effects of medications wear off. I do have bronchiectasis so it's a cycle of azithromycin 3 times a week, amoxicillin and prednisolone for flare ups

Could you maybe speak to Dr to see if a lower amount could be taken as i find 6 is my max. I hope you get sorted soon

I managed to chip all the tiles off my kitchen walls when I was on a high dose....I had ordered a new kitchen months before....and I had sat looking and wheezing at those tiles for weeks if not months.

The problem is the superwoman feeling doesn’t last, I then had to ask for help.

I take these for Crohn's, like Zebedee during the day, night time get "fits of the munchies" in my flat, the bedroom is next to the kitchen, would spend hours lying there, arguing with myself about, cheese on toast or toast with marmite. These feelings start to abate with me, when I get down to 10mg a day.

I read somewhere that if you can’t sleep on pred it may help to take it at night rather than the morning. I think the theory is you get to sleep before it kicks in, not sure how reliable that if though.

Oh yes that's me too so I avoid them if I can. I'd be clearing out cupboards whilst everyone else was sleeping. Superwoman -so true. x Hope you're better soon

I've had one attempt at taking Predisnolone and asked my GP if I could stop them after a few days I got the shakes and used to lie twitching in bed. I am not in a hurry to try them again!

I don't seem to have any reaction to Prednisilone except for getting a fuller face and my wrinkles temporarily decreasing. Would love to feel like superwomen !!!! But from my own energy if it ever comes back and not from drugs!!! Hope you are recovering well, Boxermad

The days when it made me euphoric are a distant memory. I take a dose of 12 mg a day and always first thing in the morning and sleep seems unaffected,

The only way I get any sleep on perf is to be prescribed sleeping tablets - zopiclone. I come off them between exacerbations ok with maybe one bad night but I’d be climbing the walls without them
