LAST DAY ON STEROIDS!!! .....

HIPHOORAY!!...

I'm exhausted, desperate for sleep , In pain with the Osteoarthritis, still got a chest infection. I feel like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards forwards and sidewards.

The evil steroids have stolen my sleep so I'm very relieved that today's the last day on them.

I think that if I can start getting some sleep back I should start to feel a bit more like me again.

Here's hoping, things can only get better!!

We love and need our sleep. Today's steroids will still be chuntering around until tomorrow, so it might not be till tomorrow night. It will come and it will be wonderful! At least the clocks aren't doing whatever they do and you won't have an hours sleep taken away from you!

Hope you start to get better soon. xx

You have sympathy. I'm sure you will feel much brighter by tomorrow when you have hopefully had a good few hours proper sleep

You are so lucky to off of the steroids. I have been on them since December. I'm exhausted from lack of sleep, I look horrible and was diagnosed with osteoporosis last week. I'm so depressed!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sorry for ranting about myself in response to your post. Take care and I hope that you are off the steroids for a long time if not forever!

Oh my dear tbeth - I empathise totally. I have been on them for a while now too. I have major sleep issues and mood swings as well, but I find it helps to label them as pesky side effects and concentrate on the fact that they really WORK for you. They are keeping you breathing, drawing out the bad fluids in your chest and lungs (and even near your heart) and generally supporting your life. It may even pay off to try and make friends with them. I had a lovely nurse in hospital who taught me some tricks to cope with them - I hope you have a chat with a good one near you A.S.A.P.

I wish you all the best

Love Ngaire xx

Ngaire,

Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words and sharing the advice from your nurse. I haven’t had a nurse like yours yet but maybe one will come along in the future.I know you are going through so much yourself Ngaire and you took the time to help me. I will remember what you said. Love TBeth

One thing I have learned is the kindness of people - we are a lovely lot. Your poor overstretched health services are struggling, but you will find your 'one'. They are certainly there and willing to help.

Love Ngaire xx

I have been on steroids since Xmas 2015 and this is 2nd time of tapering! On 10 at the mo then next week do 5mg for 2 weeks and then to stop! I am very breathless but don't know if from withdrawal or COPD. I didn't realise the steroids was the sleep prob. Like you I am shattered, that with lack of sleep and awful breathlessness on exertion since Xmas makes it even worse. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis Jan 2014! Know how you feel. So glad I have found this site

ol-ly11,

I so appreciate your reply. It somehow makes me feel better to know someone is gong through the same thing at the same time. I too am glad I found this site. It just makes the days easier and the sleepless nights not as long. I was at the doctor last week and they increased me to 40. What osteoporosis medication are you taking.? They gave me Fosmax/Boniva. Take care. I will be thinking about you. Tbeth
