Hi

E-cigs are a bit of a unknown, they are unregulated as far as content, quantity and quality of the content.

If they can used to assist in smoking cessation that's fine, if used as a replacement for smoking then only time will tell.

We have all been warned about the connection with lung cancer and smoking for the past 50 years, look at us now. Who was right?

Lung damage is caused by inhalation of toxic smoke, fumes, or foreign matter.

What guarantees are they with e-cigs apart from the so called safety limits, who decides those limits, the people who make the most money, who pays the price if there wrong, "the next generation ".

I read the report and I am undecided on this issue. The importance of a control experiment is only valuable after many repeats, and at the moment it is very hard for me to reach a conclusion from the data provided. We are bombarded with harmful Free radicals from many things in our life. I agree with stone...if they are used as a temporary crutch while you give up the real thing, that's fine...as for long term use, I would think twice.

I agree, but that is the 3rd report i have read this year with negative reviews. Here in Thailand it is illegal to sell them, but there are always ways out here. I am just using them as a crutch mainly at night as i do enjoy a glass of wine, but that is when i get the craving. My intention is to stop the e cig by the end of the year as i will have stopped smoking 8 months by then.

All these reports, they're enough to make one reach for a roll up. Many people vape and have found a big improvement in their breathing.

interesting article thank for posting it. I think the following:.

1. What happens in mice is not necessarily what would happen with humans as we have different physiology. Don't forget too that mouse lungs are a lot smaller than ours.

2. Unlike people mice have never smoked so it's bound to have a more extreme reaction in them.

3. Free radicals are all around us anyway and in the food we eat so we can't avoid them. 100 times less free radicals than cigarettes sounds ok to me.

4. I am suspicious of studies showing the harmful effects of e-cigs and would like to know the sponsors. I think it is a deliberatly leading to justification for regulating and therefore taxing them to earn more money for the Govt. After all they must be losing a fortune in taxes from smoking and would probably go bankrupt if everyone stopped. Call me a cynic if you want. x

Vypers are made by a big tobacco company. They will make sure they don't lose money, you can be sure of that!

After years of research in the 70's and 80's, a brand new tobacco product came onto the market. It's intention was to allow folk to get the pleasure from tobacco without the danger of smoke. The product "Skoal Bandits"....little pouches of tobacco that you put in the corner of your mouth and let them infuse. After all the manufacturers research and then all the various government testing before they could be sold, guess what? With 2 and 1/2 years, they were hastily withdrawn from the market with no explanations. It then came to light, that almost 30% of regular users had developed cancer in their mouths or throats.

Everything we put in our bodies, air, food, drink, carries risks and hazards. Have they research steam from a kettle, vegs on the boil or even a hot mug of coffee?

For most COPD sufferers, smoke has done the damage....not the tobacco. If governments were serious about everyone stopping smoking, they would force the tobacco companies to stop putting in the other chemicals that keep people hooked on the stuff.....tobacco is the very least of the addictive elements.

I am an ex smoker and I do not vap.....just hate lies and scare mongering. Yhe biggest risk from the e fags, is the risk of some of the cheap chargers going up in flames if used not in accordance with the instructions...

I gave up the weed through the use of ecigs which I am still using over a year later but hope to wean off them by the end of the year - as obviously anything alien breathed into the lungs will have some adverse effects however all the medicines we take do have side effects many of which are damaging to our bodies as well as being helpful - the worst of these to my mind being steroids so think it is up to each person to weigh the pros and cons and decide for themselves ... and mice are not men, as has been pointed out ....
