E cigarettes
Some doctors approve of ecigs, some don't cos there is not much known about the side efects but ecigs helped me to give up smoking.
There have been several discussions on here about giving up smoking and the use of e-cigs. Have a look :- blf.healthunlocked.com/site...
My own view is that for many years we were actually encouraged to take up smoking, it was a cool thing to do and we allowed clouds of smoke to enter our lungs. We now know that was dangerous and the packets carry a health warning, it took years for that to happen. Now, these e-cigs have been launched. Nobody knows just what is being carried into our lungs, the makers say they are safer, but the makers are in it to make money of course, they'll say anything. We didn't listen to the warnings about tobacco smoke, there are no warnings (yet) about this Chinese mist stuff...
Is it really giving up if people continue to have a 'habit' like that ?
hi Gordon, for me it was either the e cig or back on the real thing as the craving got to much for me, i`v not wanted a real cig since i`v been on the e cig.
I found that Champix not only stopped me craving them, but made them taste awful. For the first 2 weeks on the tablets, you still smoke. Most people stop before the 2 weeks are up. I did and I had smoked for over 30 years.
Why not go to your GPs smoking cessation clinic? People who do have a much greater chance of success.
I have heard people say they don't like o take drugs to stop the habit. I find that amusing as the same people will happily take the nicotine.

you need to give up all that copd is not a joke, you need to look after your self 100% good luck
I, too, am using the e-cig at the moment. I am finding that it helps a bit, but I am still craving a "real" cigarette. Also, I find they have a really strange taste to them. I am unable to use patches, gum etc, so the e-cig was the best choice. I have only just started using them, so time will tell.
Well I've heard they are no safer than smoking.if you want to give up you have to give up completely..I did.not cold turkey tho,I had zyban.
You do not know what these ecigs are putting into your body.
Take care
Xx
I gave up using nicotine replacement mints now I'm addicted to the mints my gp said there safe. Sorry don't know anything about the e cigarette.
My saving grace is chewing gum - otherwise I tend to get twitchy even though I gave up the fags 14 years ago. Also gum has the added benefit of keeping your mouth moist. Also gum is so much cheaper than cigarettes and you don't reek of smoke.
Hi Tony - I quit smoking on November 6 last year and have been using an e-cig , and I ave no sere whatsoever to smoke lit cigarettes. A doctor on TV last week ( wish I noted his name) said that e-cig substitution for smoking would save 5 million lives a year worldwide. An astonishing claim if true. I do feel better and breathlessness is better in between blinking chest infections.
I'd tried everything else to give up smoking, patches, inhalator, nasal spray, gum,hypnotherapy..only ecigs did the job. They might very well discover side effects later on down the line, but surely they still have to be better than smoking?.
