E cigs
We all have to make our own choice with that one but there are a lot of people on here who use them x
Morning Ed looking back at a previous post you did, seems you gave up a few months ago. If you were considering stopping now Id have said vaping could be the next step. But seeing your already stopped Id personally say carry on as you are, you're doing marvellous well done. Those cravings pass very quickly.
I stopped smoking and started vaping 14 months ago, reluctant to give the vaping up though considering it. I am consciously (spelling?) reducing how much I am vaping.
Good Luck
xx
Thank you for that I try but some times I think of smoking when I am. On my own but then I remember that Wednesday morning and the time in hospital my daughters try to help me. But drive me mad at times But are a great help along with my wife I am not going to give the e cigs a go but carry on as I am
Well done for giving up smoking that is great. If it is a choice between having a fag or e-cig then choose the latter please. It is much better than smoking after all. x
ive used an ecig and does help. you be better going for an ecig rather than real thing.
tam
Hi Ed, if you had stopped recently, I would have said go with the ecig but, I agree with jjude, you're already a none smoker (Yippee) so try and ride it out.
I stopped using an ecig and am still use it. I'm glad I stopped smoking but now I have to get off the ecig which is another mini battle itself.
The nicotine is out of your body now and it's only nostalgia that's bothering you and that will fade. Well done for stopping. x
Hello Edtongue1,
As the debate about weather ECigs are good or bad for is you still rumbling on, I would say fight the craving. I know its hard, but like all things no-one knows, what the long term health effects, these Ecigs hold, at present - all will be revealed at a later date!!
One little trick which can be used to take your mind off the craving is a squeezy lemon - when the craving comes on, give a little squirt of lemon into your mouth, it soon takes your mind off things !!! it works honest
May the Jif be with you
Mucks
fight it.
This is just my opinion,I believe that these vapor cigarettes have their own chemicals in them.50 years from now they will have people with lung problems.
Try to fight it is my advice. Jan x
Thank you all for your opinions I have given it a lot of thought and as most of you say leave the e cigs and fight it all the way and I am going to
Even after five years I sometimes get the urge to smoke again. It was so hellish stopping, I don't want to have to go through the process again. Please try not to give in for your own sake.
try not to have any substitute,l know its hard,l too am going through a similar phase.(had heart attack and respiritory failure in january) havent smoked since.!!! my problem is my husband smokes,he does go outside to have one but l can smell the smoke on him,l get very tempted but remind myself what will happen if l so much as have one drag.please keep trying to give the cigs and subs a wide berth its so worth an extra couple of years.stay strong, good luck.x
A) There are NO oils in an e-cig, if there were you'd be in real trouble!
B)They have 3 "chemicals" in them: Propylene Glycol which is used as a sanitizer in air-con systems, hence why vapers report reduced incidence of infection - I.ve had 2 in 5 years as against the 3 or 4 a year when smoking. Vegetable glycerine - and no, that is not an oil but an alcohol and is used in cough syrups and in a thousand everyday things; nicotine which is manifestly harmless in the quantity consumed, or we could sue the government for handing out nicotine gums and patches. Compare this with the 4,000 od nasties when you burn tobacco and you'll see why 2.6 million Brits have switched to vaping.
C) If you really think you've kicked your habit then don't start another but if it all gets too much then cut your hand off rather than smoke a tobacco cigarette. E-cigs are a very good substitute - I smoked for 60 years and have not had a cig in going on 6 years thanks to my e-cig.
D) I forgot flavourings but they are optional - I mix my own lemon sorbet which has the added advantage of keeping the house free of spiders!!! Heard this tip about citrus keeping them away years ago but didn't believe it - I do now!!
It is so hard, gave up smoking 14 months ago now. I still feel sometimes I could have a cig but I think when you have smoked for 45 years its such a habit with yourself and takes ages to break. I do not regret it at all just wish I didn't feel like this at times.
I would never go back to smoking or the e cig I think if you can do without it will be better for you. Like everything they will find something about all these things that will be bad for you. Look years ago the ordinary cigarette was ok to have many many years ago. Then its just another habit to break.
I love my e cig, not smoked for over a year now, however I have been thinking of going on to the Nicorette inhaler as they don't have the 'smoke' effect, can get these on prescription as well. Well done for stopping the evil habit, have a bit of nicotine if you need it, don't be too hard on yourself. Good luck. Vicki
thank you all for your help it is nice to know there are people out there who wish to help I am not going in for e cigs I am just going to fight it once more thank you Ed
