I know I shouldn't be taking extra puffs of trimbow 88/5/9 my breathing has been so bad laterly I am having panic attacks, ventilin has never been much good for me and I have been swapped to easyhailer which seems to do nothing at all for me ,when I'm in panic state I have been taking an extra one or two puffs of my trimbow, it is not often I do this at the most once a week I did ask my chest specialist was I OK to do this she said just keep to your two puffs twice a day ,I do worry I harming my lungs more taking extra but it does calm my breathing down ,I'm wondering if anyone else takes more than they should ,as I said it is not often I do this ,but it still worries me

I'd get checked by gp or asthma/ copd nurse if inhalers not right for you x

hi Alice, I am also on Trimbow, there is a higher dosage, so perhaps speak with your consultant and they may prescribe the higher dosage for you whilst your struggling 😊

Hi there, sorry to hear you're using your inhalers more at the moment, it's definitely good advice to speak your GP or respiratory team about this. We're also here to chat about any concerns on the Helpline - 0300 222 5800, 9.15am-5pm,Monday-Friday. Best wishes.

Hi Alice, we were told by resp that the occasion extra puff midway through the day if needed occasionally was fine to do but of course we are all different. maybe speak to them and see if the stronger trimbow woukd help you better niw.

Hi Alice,

I am guilty of occasionally having an extra puff - normally when I'm really desperate.

However, I have now been referred to a specialist nurse, who seems to think that asthma, more than COPD. is affecting me. I also get incredibly nervous and was very worried about this appointment, as I did not know what was going to happen. I thought I would have to do all the horrible breathing tests - but no - they're being saved for a separate appointment! All that stress for nothing!

I wondered if Trimbow was making me panic - it's a horrible feeling - really hard to control, regardless of breathing techniques etc.

I'll see what happens and let you know - I was referred by the COPD nurse at my doctor's surgery, after a review - I didn't request anything, but hopefully something good might be achieved.

I wonder if it's the steroid element that raises your anxiety? I get the shakes for about 2 hours after taking it and I can feel my heart racing which could be taken as anxiety if I didn't know better? Not a nice feeling in either case.

Hi Alice, I suffer panic and anxiety attacks. I control mine by slowing down my breathing. It's scary but I have been told you won't die from a panic attack..

They are caused by over thinking a situation. I do it as when I get to bottom of stairs, I look up and think I'm not going to make it. I end up with panic attack even though I have gone up slowly and controlling my breathing.

Other times if I am distracted for instance talking to a family member or thinking of something unrelated I have gone upstairs in one not stopping and not had panic attack,it's all about in your mind

Hope you sort it out.

Saying that its one of the scariest situation you can ever endure. Not being able to breathe and your heart beating really fast is indescribable.

Please try and slow your breathing down

Take Care xx.Sheila

I am still getting attacks but not so often. Xx

I do have the odd extra puff of trimbow if i am having a very bad day.Like you i find the easyhailer pretty useless..I have learned how to feel my blood oxy levels and put on my onegen for a while till i feel ok,easy to get into a panic without noticing it's comming..Go steady...xxx

I don’t Iike this Trimbow if I have 2 puffs in the morning it seems to make my breathing worse for about 2 hours like panicky and breathless, then to 2 hours of ok breathing then starts to worsen again. So I take 3 puffs 3 x a day. I think I need my old inhalers back(spirivia and symbicort).
