I was told there are only a few manuka bees therefore what we receive is so diluted so not as beneficial as we expect. Kind regards Sue

Hi

A interesting point about Manuka Honey.

Global sales 10.000 tons

UK sales 1800 tons

Actually Production is only 1700 tons per year.

That amounts to a lot of fake or adulterated products on the market.

Manuka Honey comes from the pollen of the Manuka tree which is only in bloom for a short period and the Bees have to be transported to the area at the correct time.

I watched a programme about road trains.

Manuka honey is about £17.00 a jar if you want the real thing. There are cheaper versions.

Where do you get the real thing at that price? I have just taken delivery of New Zealand Manuka Honey UMF22x250g at just under £48.00 from Manukahoneydirect.co.uk.

Hi, went to health shop and bought some of this honey, both for my husband and also my dog who has saw paws, my earlier post explains my thinking on this. Anyway contacted a website who sell it just asking about giving to our dog, they responded that it has been used on animals for years suggesting giving the dog firstly by mouth to treat problem from inside then perhaps put some on his paws externally. Did put some on his paws but it is very sticky and he was obviously trying to lick it off. I may buy some of the ointment it mentions, will see how he gets on.Anyway thanks for bringing my attention to the honey, it takes really lovely, by the way.

Honey is also used in hospitals on wounds that are not healing. There is a substance called Royal Jelly from bees which is apparently very potent.
