Really glad you found it helpful. Quite a few bronchiectatics use Neilmed and it's amazing the gunk it can get rid of. Hope it improves your symptoms. Very kind of you to share this with everyone.

Love cx

So pleased it helps you, It is a good product isn't it jean, I use it but when the expensive sachets ran out I used my grandad's sinus rinse formula, he was a chemist and we always used this mix in basin -

1 pint boiled water, cooled to body temp, 1 teaspoon of table or sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon bi-carb, mix together, this fills the plastic NeilMed bottle twice which is what I use each day, much much better than grandad's basin !

Are you still using your flute and mullein tea?

Hi jean, yes I have used my flute every day since I first had it, I thank cofdrop so much for telling me about them, definitely would not manage to keep my lungs reasonably clear without it.

The biggest problem I find with it is having to dry it every 5 or 6 breaths with a stick and cloth, also have found that some people do not have enough strength in their breath to blow through it successfully, think my lungs have been strengthened by the CF pep device that my lung clinic gave me a few years ago, it is like a powerbreathe.

Still have mullien tea now and then but the plant died in my sister's garden !

Hi thanks for sharing that. I have the kit, given to me by the lovely PR physiotherapist . I shall get back to using it.

Do you recommend using it morning or evening please?

I'm using morning and evening at the moment but will cut down to just evenings eventually.

Can you get it from any chemist

Yes I buy mine from boots it's a bit pricey but once you have bought the kit you just need to replace the sachets of salt solution or make your own using the recipe on zubes post

Thanks for that jeanielee. A doctor at the hospital gave me jubes recipe and told me to pour it into my cupped hand. It didn't really work for me. However, I am thinking that if I have the device it might be a lot easier and better. I think I'm going to give it a try.

Looks good. How do you avoid breathing it in?

Hi you have to lean over the sink and pour it into your nostril it will run out of the other nostril sometimes it will run into your mouth just spit it out,i usually sniff up a little to ensure a good clean and have plenty of tissues on hand to blow your nose in between cleaning each nostril.its not an unpleasant experience .The full instruction are on the box, alternatively you could buy a neti poe type of jug used in yoga and make your own solution of salt and bicarb.

thanks very much ...may try this... need something to help with chronic sinus problems.

Hello Jeanilee. I have used a very similar sinus irrigation bottle and also found a vast improvement in my post nasal drip. It is certainly worth getting one if one has this problem. I just put some salt into warm water from the boiled kettle now. (chemist told me that it is ok to do this) I don't have to do it every day anymore. It is worth doing it if you have a cold and have a blocked nose or even if you have a nose that is irritated by pollens etc. It flushes out the sinuses and one does not sneeze as much and your nose does not run as much either. I hope you are squeezing the bottle gently as you don't want it to go up into the sinuses in the forehead...not a nice feeling. All the best.

Hi Summerwinter yes I've learned from experience not to squeeze to hard, but I do sniff up gently with the solution in my nostrils it does tend to get to the nether regions without to much discomfort and I've found a great improvement

Thank you Jeanie for sharing this with us.

What I find useful is, when I do my exercises in the morning, I lift my arms up to the ceiling and bend my head backward. This seems to "move" the nasal drip. Also when I pull my arms forward, move them with my body downward towards my feet, there too the nasal dri moves and I am able to spit it out.

This set of exercises is part of Chinese QiGong, the 8 pieces of brocade:

I have been doing these for several months now. Not only does it help with spitting out the nasal drip, but it gives me a lot of energy, as the Chinese exercises combine breathing with the movement, that is the essential. I hope it helps as much as it has helped me so far..

I use a neti pot and a solution of sea salt in a pint of warm water.

I also add about 6 drops of Johnson's baby shampoo because I think I have pseudomonas in my sinuses. An alternative addition is manuka honey.

I let a quarter of a pint of solution run through each nostril. The rest of it I gently breathe into each nostril and spit it out of my mouth. Feels really clean after.
