Cannula and Post Nasal Drip

Does anyone have any evidence/feelings about prolonged use of cannula causing PND? I did not seem to have this problem until I was placed on 16+ hours of oxygen. I suffer from IPF and have done so for 13 years. I have no cough and do not produce mucus from my lungs.

I am also on oxygen 16 hrs I don't get PND which I believe goes down the back of your throat but I do have a continuous runny nose, in the supermarkets when I get by the freezers, when I get out of breathe, if I bend down it streams when I stand up again. I think I have shares in the tissue companies I use so many.

Might be of some help I hope.

I know that there are lots of causes.....irritation being one.........but......I was wondering if plastic tubing stuffed up your schnozzle for most of the day was a possible cause.

Can I join the Drippers Club? I've fought the mucous and learnt how at least to control it without resorting to drugs but the dreaded drip ( I just had to pause in my typing to deal with a drip!) just hangs around. I don't think its the plastic tubing because I vary the regular cannula with a BiFlow one-I have no idea why its called that but it it sits between the upper lip and the nose-I call it my nosebag. Its like a little reservoir of oxygen that I inhale without have anything stuck up my nose. It gives relief from the hard, dry feeling you get from the oxygen delivered by the ordinary cannula. It makes everything a lot more comfortable if, like me, you use oxygen 24/7. But it does not seem to stop the dreaded drip! I asked my nurse about the DRIPonly yesterday. I'm not sure she took me seriously but I didn't get an answer from her. Perhaps she didn't consider it important when we are looking at matters of life and death. But that's drips for you. They are really annoying and have the knack of appearing at the most awkward of times.

No, no drips for me, just the post nasal ones which you never see.............

Sorry, got the wrong end of the drip. The stuff that goes down the back is a bit like a drip in the ocean for me but I find water is the best thing.
