I'm not as ill as our husband, but when I had an infection that literally brought me to my knees and dragged myself into the surgery they rushed me into a side room and gave me some antibiotic with a nebuliser and it really did help...I had it for two lengthy sessions first day and another lengthy session next day and I felt quite a lot better...had steroids as well, of course. I do hope your husband feels relief from it.:)

I have been nebulising antibiotics for 2 years and have had no problems with nebulising. I do one session in the morning and one in the evening - both after using my puffers and after doing clearance physio to maximise the benefits of the antibiotic.

I have been taking Colomycin through a neb for 2 years, some people react to it so the first dose is given under close supervision. Just tell him to take it gently, breath slowly, don't gasp it down and he will be fine. A puff of ventolin 10 minutes before he starts helps. They never take chances and always watch carefully when trying a new inhaled medication, because it goes directly to the lungs it can cause breathlessness if taken in too quickly. It's a bit of a pain having to do it twice a day, but the difference it has made it well worth it.

I have also been taking Colomycin via nebuliser for over 2 years continuously now twice daily after inhalers, and it has certainly kept the bugs at bay for me, so it is worth it even if it is a bit of a hassle.

I also have been taking Colomycin in a nebuliser for two years, I also take ventolin through the neb before the Colomycin. It keeps the infections down. Tell your hubby not to worry. Good luck with the transplant. xx
