Nebuliser didn’t work

I recently took my nebuliser to the USA as directed by the consultant and my GP. I took Uk/USA adapters.... both kinds. I found to my horror that it wouldn’t work: at all with the 2 pin one and it only purred quietly with the 3 pin plug. The pharmacy wouldn’t sell me one without a prescription from a New York Doctor ( I was in NY). and it took all afternoon to find a medical supplier who would sell me one if he saw mine and I had a lovely letter from my GP which assured him I was going to use it properly. He said often nebulisers are used my drug users. I had forgotten that power was reduced when plugged into an adapter.

What does everyone else do with their nebuliser when in the USA or Europe?

The USA use a 110v system which would make a 240v nebuliser work at half speed. You would need a duel voltage nebuliser such as.

OMG that must have been so worrying. The amount of stuff we have to think of to experience a bit of normality. I will be interested to hear some experienced replies. Had I been well enough I would have been going to the States later this year, but it is not to be.

I have a portable one for when I am away from home, its a bit heavy on batteries but I have gradually built up a selection of rechargeable ones so would have plenty if I was allowed to go anywhere at the moment a visit to the back garden is on the risky side but I hope you had a enjoyable visit.

I had a lovely time.... thank you! 😀 I just wanted everyone to know what could happen. I am very lucky I was with family who knew the area etc and all worked out in the end.

I bought a portable battery operated one when I went. An Omron micro air. Fit in my pocket, but I was just on salbutamol.

Hi I’m off the Majorca and was hoping to take my nebuliser out there with me does anyone know if it will work out their I would need to use it at least once a day

I have taken my nebuliser to Prague and Rome, it worked fine using EU adaptor so I assume it would work fine in Spain. I'm on salbutamol. Hope all works out and enjoy your holiday

Works both ways. We had an american salesman who flew over to demonstrate a £100,000 kit. He had bought a plug adaptor, switched it on and the kit blew up. It was the only one in the country!
