I have bronchiectasis and asthma. A recent sputum test has come up with mycobacterium and been asked to send in two more samples.
On the good news side I will be starting a pr course in late June or early July.

Looking on the web it says it can lead to tuberculosis, which means it doesn't always, but on the other hand it also says there is a non-tuberculosis form. So not a lot wiser I'm afraid.
Hi my husband was diagnosed with Mycobacterium last year they had now decided to try and treat this it is a form of TB non contagious but he will be on a mixture of three antibiotics for up 18 mths - 2 years, and this will involve having blood tests every week as the antibiotics can cause liver and eye problems so they need to keep an eye out for any problems that they may cause, the bug it self can cause sweats and fever and tiredness, so he starts next week so fingers crossed everything will go well, Good luck.
Thank you for this information. Best wishes to you and your husband with the treatment. Let me know how you get on. I will not know for a week or two what will be suggested for me. That will be after two separate sputum tests.
I have been very tired but have had three exacerbations almost back to back since October last year.
