After reading that quite a few of us feel good on the steroids ,wondered if any one was on a maintenance dose, even when I was tailing them off ,on one daily I felt good, now just seem to be,tired out and totally uninterested.

Hi junespoon, I am on a maintenance dose of prednisolone but I am afraid the feel good factor doesn't seem to apply to me on the low dose. I can still feel washed out and breathless and wheezy and need to increase my dose when I have an exacerbation or infection as I have now. My body has got used to the medication I think, and of course there are the side effects of long term use. I wish I could manage without them.

I'm just the same if I drop below 10mg I get no relief at all. I've been taking Prednisolone daily for nearly 5yrs and skin now paper thin and bruises everywhere. Good news it that I'm only increasing to 20mg max now. I find it difficult to manage the side effects of a higher dose these days.I have COPD and Bronchiectasis

I was on a maintenance dose of 20 mg per day of prednisolone for 2 years, over this last year I've slowly tapered down to 6 mg per day. This was due to my transplant consultant saying he wanted me off steroids as the recovery time is longer post operation and he didn't want me hanging around getting in their way for longer than necessary.

Luckily I do well on steroids with few side effects, I think my breathing suffers a little on the lower dose but you don't argue with your transplant consultant do you.

Pete takes 10mg per day and seems to do ok on that but he is tired all the time and does seem to sleep a lot. He has tried going to 5mg but does not do so well on that. Like dall05 I think that Pete's breathing suffers a little on the lower dose but he does well on the whole. Take care. xxxx

At the end of second week of 10mg maintenance dose of prednisolone.Found the gym a bit more difficult, need a nap in the afternoon and I think I may be a bit more grumpy than usual. At least I don,t need to phone an ambulance!Stick with it ,probably settle down after a few weeks, good luck June.D.

Yea ,I know it is a quick hit,I could enjoy them, but not as stupid as I was when young, the after effects like any drug you have to come down...false security.....the side effects are so horendas I will not take steroids....quick fix ..for not having time to care for people individually. The immune system is so broken down, after steroids .vicious circle that I will not enter ,definitely not 10day supply, put me in hospital, lack of trained nurses. Bad experience don't trust docs surgery again,be vigilant .
