I was diagnosed with copd in December last year moderate I have been fine bit tired but ok now I have come down with a cold and I feel terr
Yes you should go see GP! Doesn't sound like a cold you could have an infection. Colds for people with COPD can lead to other things quite easily.
Hi shell59, I am wondering the same thing....do I feel bad enough to visit the walk in clinic?
I haven't felt right for a couple of days, but last night I started to feel much worse....headache, shivery, sore throat and stomach pains.
My chest isn't that bad yet though.
With COPD you have to be careful as infections can affect the lungs, so don't feel daft going to the nurse...better to be safe than sorry.
Hope you feel better soon
Both of you get along to the doc! I have found when you tell the receptionist you have COPD a doctor always seems available. Good luck and get well soon. Also, when you are at docs ask about emergency meds. Most of us are given a course of antibiotics and a course of steroids to keep for times like this.
I agree with BigBreaths - both of you go to the Doctor. My husband usually has to start his antibiotics and steroids when he has a cold and experience has taught us to treat any symptoms earlier rather than later. Ring the doctor and tell them you need to see someone don't be put off! Good luck TAD xxx
hi ya . its time to go to the docs . I have copd and other stuff and twice now I ve left it and ended up in hospital the docs wood rather your safe than sorry
As others have said do check in with your doctor even if only a telephone consultation appointment.
Hope you are soon feeling better.
Keep warm, take paracetamol if you know you are ok with that.
Wrap up if you do go out to see the doc, hopefully someone can drive you or pick up meds for you if the doc leaves a prescription after a chat on the telephone.
Take good care
Good advice to go to your G.P. hope you soon feel better.
I am really bad for just hoping it goes away and I am always getting the finger wagging from my GP for leaving it till the last minuet.
At the first sign of infection: 1/ make appointment, 2/ take a sputum sample 3/ take your meds after sputum sample.
I do it now, but not because of the infection, more the embarrassment of getting a row from the doctor. SAD ain`t I.
But it is better to get properly seen to as soon as possible and your doctor will agree with that.
Tom.
Agree, don't take chances when I feel poorly my Dr will see me every day if need be to check my chest, I am lucky that way, but better not to let things get a grip harder for them to deal with then..good luck get better soon..
I would go along with Blakey and phone your doctor for advice as visiting a crowded surgery often leaves you with more than you went in with !
Did you go to the doc?? You must, sooner you'll get treated, sooner you'll be better. If you don't you could be holed up for weeks.
Let us know won't you.
Went to doc didn't give me anything told me to go to bed and keep warm ?
The swine. I just saw your new post.
The others are right. Give the BLF a ring, they will arm you with the confidence to go back. When you do get back there, insist on giving a sputum sample.
The thinking is not to dole out antibiotics to avoid resistance to them BUT, that's for normal healthy people, not for folks with COPD. I hope you'll get another GP when you go back.

hope your feeling better soon
yes, go with a sputum sample and have it analysed. the microbiologist will decide whether it's a cold or else. Better be safe and prevent it from getting worse.
