I'm 77&have been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis
had to give my neb ulizer back to sur... - Lung Conditions C...
had to give my neb ulizer back to surgery, any reccommendations,as I need to buy one&its a bit of a minefield
Got mine from evergreen too...if you ring them or send an email they are extremely helpful.
Wonder why you had to hand yours back...my first neb. was from the hospital on loan and I only bought one because I wanted a portable one otherwise I was limited as to how long I could be away from a power point.
Has the surgery given you a reason why they want it back...I only paid so I could get out and about. Remember VAT free too
I bought one from Evergreen too. There are different ones according to your needs - eg depending on what you are nebulising. Antibiotics need a different nebuliser cup than saline or salbutamol. They will ask you what drugs you are on. Quite expensive though.
No idea why you have to give yours back. Do you only use it occasionally? My surgery allowed me to borrow one short term whenever I needed it and asked me to return it asap. I'd ask why you can't have it on long term loan if you use it continually.
Like knitter, I got my own because I wanted a small portable one.
Hi again terence2, check with your gp that they will prescibe the drugs for the nebuliser before you buy one.
Take care
hi Terence2, if its any help I took my nebuliser to my Respiratory Nurse at my local hospital. She gave me newly serviced one plus some masks for it too. Hope I 've been of some help.
My surgery wont give me one and wont prescribe either - they insist I go to the surgery if I need to use one - it is a 12 mile round trip costing me £20 for a taxi - but do they care - do they heck!
Oh I am a pensioner by the way - so funds dont allow taxi travel and I am not eligible for mobility due to age. No public transport so my bus pass is no help either
Bealings I am so sorry your surgery doesn't see your problem regarding transportation, but, recently I ran out of my neb meds, and had to fall back on using my ventolin with my large spacer. 5 puffs of that is equivalent to my normal nebs medication, and in a pinch it does work.
Hi.I have had a nebuliser on loan from my local hospital for over ten years, and they would service it annually for me whilst loaning me another. This year when i rang to organise the swop, they explained that they had to call them all in, and asked me to bring it back next time I went to see my Consultant - funding, i expect.
However , as I was under the care of the Community Matron, she organised a long term loan of a replacement as well as other living aids for the home... an electric mattress raiser for my bed,as i found it difficult to sleep flat, shower stool etc, all to make life a bit easier for us old 'uns. I believe these all came through social services, so before you spend anything, please ring your local services and explain your needs, and ask for a home visit to assess what may
be available for you.
Best wishes.

True Huffnpuffer, The respiratory nurse is usually a good person to ask. True too, she would come on a home visit to assess a patient. Have you got a Respiratory nurse,Terence? If not, you could ask for one, you're entitled to one. She can explain what you need and write referrals to the doctor or the physiotherapist. Her advice carries weight to the other professionals.
I heard that lidl had them on offer a little back?
Hi Terence2. My Husband has Pulmonary Fibrosis and he was told inhalers don't have any effect on it. Maybe you have them for something else.
got mine on amazon and nebs from gp xx
Any reason why you had to give it back. Can you not have another one in replacement. Can you talk it over with your doctor, or your pulmonary nurse or your consultant?
Do you receive drugs to be used in a nebuliser? Do you use saline? surely then the doctor will prescribe you a free one from the NHS Equipment Department.
ebay always have them for sale or ask your chemist ask him how much before he orders or even advertise for one locol u neverr know u can always buy new masks
