IN FLANDERS FIELDS

by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place: and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

WE SHALL NOT SLEEP,

THOUGH POPPIES GROW

IN FLANDERS FIELD

A very moving service at the Cenotaph this morning, and in sunshine for a change. God bless all those who cared enough to give there lives, and for those who still risk their lives throughout the World today.

Well said Let us. I couldn't give a better complement. Berwick

The British Legion do a brilliant job of putting this Remembrance Service on every year. It bought tears to my eyes to see all the veterans - many with mobility problems and probably worse - doing their very best to keep up in the march past.

Me too. Good to see many young people there to hopefully keep up the Rememberance.

I always find the cenotaph service very moving. I was very impressed by the number of youngsters paying their respects. Thank you to all those who gave their lives and all those who have risked their lives to keep us safe and free. Alison
