I am sorry I can't help but would suggest you look on the Acas website and perhaps ring for advise. Good luck TAD x x

I have a risk assessment that was done at work. Although most of it I wrote! I would be happy to send you a copy to a personal e mail if it helps. Mine mainly advises what to do if I am struggling to breathe and is meant to be a help and not scary or threatening.

You can swap info privately via the message facility, without need of giving out your email address. :)

Just click on the name of the person you wish to send a message to. This takes you to their 'home' page. On the right you will see 'send a message'. Click that, type and hit send. When you receive a message you wish to reply to, just click the reply button.

I was 'risk assessed' when I began using oxygen but most of it was them asking me for info then typing up what I said. However, some firms can be crafty. I would take advice from your union, or try CAB.

Always get advise from your union , if you do not have a union , get in touch with Acas as Tadaw quite rightly advised ...Good luck :Sue

Dear Jean I don't know what sort of work you do but a risk assessment may be needed to ensure that nothing in the work place is contributing to your condition. I do hope your manager said some other reassuring things like how can we support you with this? or are there any areas of your work that worry you? do you need to look at your work life balance? or perhaps we could refer you to our occupational health department to see if there is anything as a responsible employer we can do to help you.

they may just be panicking because they just don't understand anything about copd. that I am afraid will be down to you or if you are in a union maybe they could support you. in any meeting regarding your employment or your health you can always ask for a representative to come with you a friend may be .

I would say it has taken many years to finally get to a place where my employer understands my condition makes some allowances and it is now working well for both of us.

It is early days yet you don't know how it will affect you completely. you and your employer are both going to need some patience and understanding. Good luck Jean happy to talk when ever X

Hi Jean. Please don't worry about it. I used to have them at work. Your employer has a duty of care to you under Health and Safety at Work Act. It's to find out if you are having any problems at work because of your copd and what they can put into practice at work to help you stay in work. They can make reasonable adjustments such as extra leave, extra breaks etc. You might also be referred to ATOS - they are there to help in your situation and can recommend other measures they think would help you. Bearing in mind though that all these are 'subject to business needs'. Good luck with it.
