I'm so glad you've stop smoking. This is the greatest step in your life. CONGRATULATIONS! You will see an improvement in your health. Have you signed up for PR? This might help you in the long run. Well done!

Thanks helingmic my pulmonary function is very good they say so not offered pr yet!!! I've had 1 test and got near 100% it's been the infections impeding me upto now! Wot does PR do?

During PR, they test you for fitness. Then for 6 weeks they give you circuit exercises to do: carry weight on a length, pushing a static bike, go up and down a stair, and others. At the end of the session, they test your O2 level and your breathing capability and record it. After 6 weeks, some people improve, some don’t. At the last one, I was recommended oxygen bottles and a concentrator.

I carried on going to the gym. With meds for my condition, I weaned myself from O2 completely. It made me strongly aware that exercise is important.

I think am quite fit still and work on a ward, I used a pedometer and found out I walk around 11,500 steps so exercise while I work haha.you should be proud of what u have achieved well done to you! X max

Thank you Boo-Boo. That's it Let's all have a big hug. You can learn the best of hugs by looking at yourself in front of the mirror and say, I love you (works every time!)

Cheers Flibberti massive relief thank you! As you said steroids are great when needed, and think my prolonged use was a factor in this result, but probably caused inflammation found too! I learnt from helping a friend with emphesema only too well the effects of steroids on lungs. X

Junespoon,

I’m joining a link about corticosteroids.

brit-thoracic.org.uk/Portal...

for me. ( only my opinion, I’m not an expert or professional).Wehn I am short of breath with an infection, my lung specialist prescribes a short term (15 days to 4 weeks). It helps me no end recover a little from shortness of breath.

What I’ve noticed is that my veins in my fingers can snap. That means a little blood swells a spot and can be a little painful, but not harmful.

Trust your doctor more than I. If he prescribed this, there’s a good reason, which he won’t keep secret if you ask!

Not what you're looking for?
