My lovely new kindle

I have just been and bought a Kindle paperwhite 3G it is fantastic.

I must admit I thought I would have to get my grandson to set it up for me and show me how it works, but I should not have worried, every step was covered on the kindle screen and I am already up and running.

Will start reading my first book tomorrow.

Have many peaceful hours reading Polly. I have a tablet with the Kindle app and it is my No.1 desert island item! Libby

congratulations. I always said Kindle, never! I thought I liked turning the page and the feel of a good book in my hand.

That was before - Now I've got the kindle app on my tablet as well and it's great.I've also got another books app, Akido which is equally good. my first download: Nexus 7 instructions for my tablet.

I wonder if anyone downloads recipe books .......................

Great. So many books, free or otherwise, and so little time.

How fabby is that? I'm still into the paper ones though, a die hard smell the new book person - maybe one day ............... *winking at semi-surly son as I type LOL :) xx

Is this like the kindle fire? I have one which is fine, but trying to read it in bed, the pages flip from horizontal to vertical which it impossible to read the book. Irritating!

Not sure annie, my grandson sorted it out for me I just told him my preferences.

Maybe someone who knows more than me will be in touch.

The Kindle Fire is more like a tablet, while the Kindle Paperwhite is more of a reading device. You can go on the Internet on an ordinary Kindle but it's pretty poor. I use my iPad as a mini computer, but my Kindle as a book. I have the Kindle app on my Ipad, but it's pretty useless for reading outdoors.
