If the cough is not productive try a basic cough medicine to stop the irritation.

Some honey in warm water might be a help. Just sip it slowly.

You may have acid reflux, causes throat irritation! You need to be on Antacid medication, I.e. Omeprazol, see your doctor about this.

Fishermen's Friends, the original ones. Don't taste very nice and your breath smells a bit but they do stop the cough.

Manuka honey?

Expensive but so worth it. A little in warm water with lemon juice is very soothing plus it's a natural antibiotic.

If it persists you really should go to the doc. P
