Your choice will be applied by:
NHS Digital and Public Health England
all other health and care organisations by 30 September 2021 (delayed from March 2020 to allow organisations to focus on the COVID-19 outbreak). Read more about the extension to the compliance deadline for national data opt-out.
Any choice you make will not impact your individual care.
NHS Digital seem to be keeping this date quiet but if you want to opt out you need to do so by the 23rd. If you miss this date it will be too late. Some people think GPs will be selling our data - they will not. But those they share it with may use it in any way they wish - there will be no restriction, and its likely your data will eventually get sold to insurance companies. This is one way our NHS is being monetised.
There is a link on the Med Confidential page to an opt out form which you can print out. and take to your GP.
Probably as a result of Hancock being questioned by different MPs in the Commons yesterday teatime! I think they thought if they kept this low key they could get away without it being questioned even, by the majority of the general public. Whatever the reasons for doing it, rightly or wrongly, this should have been broadcasted more for people to know about their options. I wouldn't trust this lot to run a bath!
There has just been an interesting debate about it on the Daily Politics programme on BBC2 if you have Iplayer and are interested in seeing what was said.
In case anyone's in doubt about opting out, dont take it from me. No less and authority than Susan Michie from Sage AND Indie Sage is herself opting out.
