A Felt Bit Flaky Before A Was Diagnosed Or Shown Symptoms ...
Yes, and that's without steroids and antibiotics! Not for absolutely no reason though, but doesn't take much, something sad on the tv or in the paper or just when I want to do something quite simple but can't manage it. Steroids do mess with your emotions though, here's a link which will tell you about the side effects:-

Hope things even out soon for you. LIbby
Thanks for that began to feel i was going nuts
Your not going nuts Decor just being human. I've just finished a second course in anti b's and a course of steroids I'm so tired today and a bit down.
Definitely not nuts Decor ! It sounds like the original infection never went away though if you've only been off the antibiotics for a week. Some infections can lie dormant then catch us unawares.
You may also have the beginnings of depression and I would recommend ringing the BLF Helpline to speak to one of the nurses there. The number is 03000 030 555 and their lines are open 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday. I'm sure they will be able to offer you appropriate advice and all your friends here are more than willing to offer emotional support
but keep on keeping on ....

Steroids can make some people very emotional, its important to eat well to help counteract the side affects, well it is important to eat well period with a lung condition.
Hope this second lot of meds help clear the infection up completely for you.
Are you on the same antibiotics this time? Perhaps you need to do a sputum test to see if they are effective on the bug you have. Keep smiling.

I used to cry at anything, depression goes with COPD. I'd cry at sad music, sad films, even something sad on the news, I burst out crying telling my GP about it, she put me on ADs and now I can't cry however much I try, it's incredible.

Antibiotics make my husband very depressed and my sister almost suicidal. So it could be the drugs, the infection, the fact you must be tired, the fact if has dragged on for so long. You are entitled to feel miserable! I would tell the Doctors though - perhaps the BLF helpline could give you some advise re: medications etc. Take care of yourself. TAD xx
My wife was suffering with bursting into tears for the slightest reason, during a routine blood test they discovered her thyroid was a bit out, so they gave her some pills and all is back to normal.
I have had back to back infections for months, three days after the anti'bs finish the infection returns, now they has discovered I have two bugs living in me that don't respond to penicillin, the immune system is fighting them and letting others in, it is enough to make you cry.
I always get weepy when I have a chest infection to the point of using it as an early warning. I don't know what condition you have Decor but recurrent infections or infections that never quite go could indicate bronchiectasis. Hope you feel better soon xx
Hi Decor
I'm so sorry to hear of your constant chest infections,I also get the same,my Doctor tells me bugs are most active in the winter. Which is the very time I try to avoid contact with others in the Supermarkets like the plague (seems like I only have to look at somebody, and I go down with a chest infection). I well know the chest infections seem to be one after the other, and of course linked to a course of Steroids.
I believe you should speak to your Doctor, concerning your depression,it's quite common with people in a similar position. You say it's "for no reason" but you may be blaming yourself "for no reason" when the reality is: not many people have to endure long term illnesses as do many on this site.
My Doctor always gives me a Rescue Pack to be kept at home, which comprises Antibiotics and Steroids, and I have the decision when to start taking them,so I do not have to make my COPD worse by struggling up to see him at his Surgery.
Perhaps you could have a word with your Doctor for a similar arrangement, which could be a good time to see if he/she could include some Anti Depressants! in a "Rescue Pack"
Decor you don't have to suffer in silence, those days are thankfully long gone,Please go and see your Doctor!
