Can't day that i have,

Probiotics are also good to help put back the friendly bacteria into the bowel which is often destroyed by antibiotics which in turn can affect the immune system so in a roundabout way Yakult will help. It is said a healthy bowel = a healthy immune system.

Yakult is good I think

There are a lot available now for different things, I don't have troubles any more myself but I always recommend as there was a time I did have troubles and it took several months to put right, this was due to an infection that lasted over 7 months with about 5 courses of antibiotics which is what caused the problem in the first place. I believe they work well for people who suffer from irritable bowel also.

KOTC

Hi Jambo

As far as I'm aware they have a minimal effect on stomach health and they cant have an impact on for example lung infections as they (bacteria) do not pass into the blood ..... we would be in trouble if they did!!

If you have a very upset stomach you are better off getting bacteria pills from health food shops, the dose in the probiotic yoghurts is so low that you have to take them all the time for an impact ..... a few pills works wonders I always use the bacteria pills when Im on antibiotics as antibiotics will kill your digestive bacteria which need to be replaced .... this can reduce side effects of antibiotics such as nausea

Thankyou for the info, makes sense what you say, certainly don't think it's going to make my lungs work any better.

you're right there. They are just an expensive fad. A waste of money & full of sugar which feeds fungal infections - in a bad way.

Best to buy the capsules as others have said. They put the good bacteria back into the gut after antibiotics kill them off.

Most of them recommend you to take them every day.I must admit I tried it ,but for me it did not work.It was back to the Doctor.

Natural yogurt is just the same,,and a lot cheaper,, than pills and good for you tummy,, :)

My nutrition doctor did a stool test and diagnosed severe deficiencies of three types of intestinal bacteria. She put me on probiotics,

I asked her abut yoghurt and Yakut. She said yoghurt is nice but nowhere near enough bacteria to help me, but she was critical of Yakut saying it was very high sugar and poor quality ingredients.

If you want to supplement with probiotics I think that is a great idea but maybe start with a stool test to find out which ones you need, then take capsules or powder. Then there's kefir too.

My daughter calls it Yakup, believe it must be something to do with the taste

Hi, Anti-biotics kill all bacteria including the good bacteria in the stomach. Whilst taking antibiotics and for a period afterwards it is useful to replace the bacteria - we need the good bacteria for a healthy immune system. My husband always takes a probiotic sometimes actimel and when taking antibiotics I always go to a good health food shop and get some stronger probiotics. It has certainly cut down on upset stomachs - does it help - well I think it does. It certainly wont do you any harm! Good Luck TAD xx
