Hello Clarice91 . I don't have bronchiectasis and I haven't tried Reiki but I wanted to say welcome to the forum. :)

Hi Clarice and a very warm welcome to you. I have had bronchuectasis since babyhood but have never tried Reiki. I have however recently had sessions of hypnotherapy for IBS which was extreemely helpful. I would imagine it works in a similar way, in that it would not cure the condition but as the mind works in conjunction with the body, I would imagine it would be helpful in lessening anxiety and therefore help the physical. Just a thought.

Can someone please look at my post and tell me if my oft is normal.

It shouldn't harm as it's not a hands on technique. I was surprised at the help of shiatsu and reflexology for non-lung related conditions when I gave them a try, so I would say, have a go and see how you feel after.

Reiki is a hands on technique, I did the basic course. The advanced course is called Distance Reiki so that is not a hands on technique as it is what it says done from a distance. It does work as someone did Reiki on me once and the pain went instantly I was so impressed I did the course. I never thought about doing it for Emphysema next time I have a bad exaserbation I will try it on myself.....Norm

Oops, thanks for correcting me. My friend in Scotland must have been doing the advanced type then. I do think it's worth trying these alternative therapies - if you don't expect too much from them you can be very pleasantly surprised.

I tried Reiki once for something completely unrelated. Got no benefit from it whatsoever. xx Moy

Hope your doing well. Reiki -what is it - well deep breath. It is a safe non-invasive form of healing in which universal energy (Rei), is channelled through the hands of the practitioner. It is then made available to the clients own energy system to boost Ki (Qi_ Chi all names for the same thing the bodies own naturally occurring energy. Starting in Tibet and re discovered by a Japanese monk called Dr Mikao Usui. It allows the body to heal itself. It effects the bodies, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states.

Does it work, will; it help. First as always seek proper medical help from a qualified medical practitioner - always. Reiki is a very deep subject and I am only touching on it in a very basic way.

It has been proven beyond doubt that there is a self healing mechanism in the body that responds to effect- call it if you like the placebo effect. Reiki takes this much, much further and helps re-tune the body by calming areas that may be over active and opening areas that may be under -active allowing the bodies own healing mechanism to grow.

Find a healer and try it. See what you experience.

Whilst I'm at it Google Nick Ortner The Tapping Solution or EFT. Read what he does with an open mind and an open body - try it. Both work for me. You will find healing- but this is important to all readers - you may not necessarily find a cure, but you will find healing and begin to understand the subtle difference.

Best wishes
