They are having an impromptu BBQ, which is great, they are a lovely family. Several guests are smoking out there. I will never smoke again, but the smell of it fresh, is lovely. There! I have confessed! If that had been a year ago though, I might have been tempted. It reminds me how hard it is at first.

Honestly, I won't smoke again, by the way.

I love the smell of fresh smoke even after 6 years of quitting but hell would have to freeze over before I ever put one in my mouth again, I`m just not interested. its weird. On the subject of bbq`s my neighbours had one today but I had to come in the shut the door because the dense smoke was blowing into my garden and choking me. Other than that its been a lovely day.

I quit a few years back, and the smell of smoke is just disgusting for me. I still sometimes get that Arghhhh feel when I would have lit up, years back, but that smell makes me cover my face, yuk... can't believe I used to like it. Never ever going to stink like that again :) and proud of that :)

well said Anna. I have smoked in the past I'm lucky enought to be able to go out & about but oh flip am I fed up with smokers outside cafes, pubs, offices, shops - even the hospital!

Like many of you, my lungs cannot tolerate the smoke so I have to cross the road or hold my breath or look like a paranoid idiot & cover my mouth & nose.

The smell makes me heave, cigars, pipes? Grrrrrrrrrr

Good for you Lynne. Just a very well-meaning word to those like me who are trying very hard to stop. The smell of newly lit cigarettes wooed me back after having stopped for months. I am now in my seventh day of abstinence and this time round it is much harder.

Need to do it this time as the new onslaught onto my system (when I started again) had a real bad effect. Starting again also made me feel bad about myself and I knew I was disappointing my family particularly my son who supported me then and is now. The upside now is that I am a lot less breathless after only seven days smokefree and though finding it difficult I think I can do it this time round. I sincerely hope so anyway. Hope this is of interest to others who are struggling.

Oh Lynne,I was having a giggle thinking of you under the fence, trying to inhale the smoke!!

When I first gave up,I would deliberately stand next to people smoking, trying to get a whiff, didint dare have one though,as I knew I would be addicted again. The same as the alcoholic, one is to many,.....

Good girl for having stayed strong,& brave enough to share that with us!!!

I was just like you when I first gave up and would deliberately stand next to people who were smoking and inhale their smoke .I cant go near them now .Last week I was going into the supermarket and one of the staff was stood in the doorway smoking so I had to pass quite closely to her her smoke went right on my chest.Unfortunately the average smoker doesn't know how it affects people like us.

Good for you Lynne, its nice when you can still say no to the dreaded weed, I'll never let one to my lips again, think it would kill me now anyway, can't imagine that I used to smell the way someone does when they get on the bus after just having one yukkkyyyy, keep well x

We had someone in today to move our burglar alarm and he smelled of stale smoke and it was so disgusting.

Although the fresh smoke smelt good outside yesterday, I will never smoke again.
