I spoke to a wonderful asthma nurse from asthma uk today, and I basically need to look at changing my medication again as I thought I was doing well but I'm still using the salamol too much .
Anyway I've picked up a cold, for the first time in a year following some prednisolone a couple of weeks ago. I'm bringing up alot of yellow and thick phlegm (sorry, tmi!) No fevers , but feel generally like attacks could come back fairly quickly if I'm not careful.
At what point do you seek medical advice? I've got a review on the 30th and was trying to make it until then but I'm due am IVF embryo transfer on Thursday and I'm assuming it's just how its going to be when I get colds with flared up asthma.

If you're coughing up coloured phlegm and your breathing is more laboured, phone the GP and state that you are starting an asthma flare up and may have the start of a chest infection, so may need additional treatment. They should see you as an emergency and prescribe accordingly. It's important to be proactive early, just to assert control on increasing symptoms.
I don't always feel feverish when I have a chest infection, but I can be like a phlegm factory and it rarely gets better without treatment. And breathing is a horrible struggle.
I'm unsure if this will affect your IVF embryo transfer, but you could check with the fertility clinic first, just to get advice. All the very best with your IVF.
I was offered antibiotics by a gp at the UTC tonight but I've declined them in the end. He's given me a prescription for a steroid nasal spray to try for the post nasal drip and stated I need a meds review. I'm just hoping this will go away on it's own now, I don't want any more oral steroids 🙈
It's a rotten conundrum to be in. I hope you're well enough on Thursday for the IVF transfer and that you can seek an early medication review. As you said in your response to Daisy, the IVF medication probably isn't helping your asthma, but that should be temporary. Wishing you all the best tomorrow.
Keep us posted and never hesitate to get help from your GP if your asthma flares. I know you're worried about taking additional meds right now, but your doctor should be monitoring you at the very least.
I do hope by now you have been prescribed medication. The sooner the better with those symptoms. Good luck with IVF do hope you will be well enough to go ahead.
I went to utc after work today in the end. I've been prescribed a steroid nasal spray to try deal with the post nasal drip, and he did offer some antibiotics but was stating that the clinic may refuse to do the transfer so I declined them. Hes said I need a medication review which I'm aware of, it's just a case of sorting it. He also said the ivf medication is probably messing with the asthma too 🙄
The clinician was cautious about starting them now because of the IVF transfer today. On hindsight I should've just asked for some anyway. Now just got to hope it goes away on its own 🙈
