Hey Everyone.. I need a bit of advice. last week I was sent to hospital not being able to breath with a tight chest, I had lots of tests done and they said it was Asthma which I had as a baby and they said has come back. I was told to wait for a call from the community asthma nurse and given an inhaler. its been a week now and I've not heard anything but still have a tight chest the inhaler works a little bit but not completely. I'm not really sure what to do or who to contact?

Any help would be appreciated

It might be worth getting a telephone appointment with your GP to see if they can help you.

Definitely contact your GP, they may have an asthma nurse you can talk too.

Phone the hospital and keep pestering them, its horrible to feel so short of breathe. Failing that phone your gp and explainit to them.

See a McTimony chiropractor. They should be able to help loosen the muscles of the tight chest.

Hope this helps

Consider buying your own Peak Flow Tester from your Pharmacist or Amazon (about ten to twelve quid). Monitor your best of three blows and use the results to give you an objective measure to help you decide if your breathing is getting worse (and to quote to your doctor, nurse or the 111 Service if you need to ring for help or advice). Also (for the same reason) consider buying a Finger Pulse Oximeter. Although the Medical Grade Ones are not cheap you could try one rated as non medical (i.e. Rated for Sports Use but not medical use) like an acc-u-rate 450D which you can buy for around £30. Record your ratings daily (or at least take some readings on your good days - so that you know what your stats are when you're in reasonable health). Once you have this objective non-emotional data, you can self monitor with greater confidence and also quote facts and figures to medical advisers to lend weight to your reasons for seeking help and assistance.
