Is anyone on here taking 3-4 180mg fexofenadine a day for urticaria and or angiodema? If so how long before it really kicks in and when do you take your 3 doses if on three or so you find only 4 really whacks it out? (I had to take 4 a day 3.5 years ago (prescribed by consultant, said 4 daily for six weeks min) and it killed it (think after couple of weeks but can’t remember) and I came off completely but suddenly a few days ago whack it was back :-(

I have chronic spontaneous urticaria and take 360mgtwice a day. Unfortunately I’ve been on it for years because every time I try to come down my urticaria flares up., though I do try every couple of months. Generally I find it works very quickly within hours / days when I go back up my dosage.

If you haven’t had a flare up in a very long time and are unsure of dosage you probably should speak to your doctor about it.

Thanks for your reply. I dug out my letter and the consultant says 2 x 2 daily for min six weeks. I think that’s what I’ll do as when I took two last night it did have a noticeable positive effect - I’ve had this flare a few days and one twice a day was doing nothing. I’m thinking one/two day is probably only ever going to work for some people as preventative or for very minor probs. Thanks again. It’s weird, it came from nowhere although I have a lot of stress at mo (what’s new?!) and I did spend many many hours into the early morning on my computer and caused dry eye which wept overnight so maybe that set it all off. Thanks again. It’s a horrid thing eh? Really impacts because you can’t go out and about and meet people when it’s bad. And it feels awful of course too. Nb are you in the UK? I remember my GP was shocked by the consultant’s advice (an immunologist at top London hosp)

yes I’m in the UK and get comments from other health professionals about the dosage but when my urticaria flares up it lasts for days and it’s all over and I’ve literally scratched myself raw so the higher dose it is
