Asthma triggered by allergies & virus

I'm on Fostair 200 twice a day and Montelukast. I take an antihistamine daily. I reduced Fostair from 2 puffs twice daily as it gave me a croaky voice. I'm in my 40's - started H.R.T six months ago. The meds control my asthma well most of the time. I picked up a virus a few days ago which went straight to my chest. I am coughing a lot too. Never had it so bad. Got worse last night and this made by chest quite tight. I can feel mucus running from my nose down the back of my throat. Started Prednisolone and antibiotics. I feel a little better already and am not coughing as much. I guess episodes like this make me feel frightened and fragile. I shouldn't complain as people are in much worse predicaments than I am.

Ditto… a cold virus has triggered my asthma. I does make you feel fragile and vulnerable when your health lets you down but you are doing all the right things so stay positive.

If the Fostair is affecting your voice, can you speak to your asthma nurse about it? Maybe they can suggest an alternative medication which will suit you better and mean you can keep taking the recommended amount.

Fostair you need to rinse your mouth every time you take it otherwise you will get thrush which affects your throat
