Hello, for a while now I've been getting tightness in my chest but then also pain, it kind of feels like heartburn but goes into my stomach and also my chest at the back.
When I've mentioned this to DR's and nurses etc they've all said with asthma its tightness not pain. I've had my heart checked a ridiculous amount of times so I'm pretty sure it's not that!
Just wondering if anyone had similar with asthma flair ups. The pain goes away when I take my reliever inhaler. Thanks
Could be acid reflux a lot of people have acid reflux with asthma
HiI don't have pain as such but my chest feels very sore and inflamed - it's hard to describe, it's almost like I can feel the air trapped in my chest - but sometimes people think it's acid reflux and it's not (I've tried various reflux medications). Everyone's symptoms can be different, many people get a wheezy chest which I hardly ever get.
Yes this is how it feels for me. It definitely isn't acid reflux as I'm on medication for that and it makes no difference.
I find it hurts when I lie on my side, feels like my chest is getting crushed.....like the air is stuck
I have exactly the same, but in my case I know that it’s angina. Exactly the same triggers for both angina and asthma in my case - cold weather, stress, anxiety. I’m always ready with my GTN angina spray and that usually relieves the “heartburn” and tightness , allows me to breathe more easily.
I found recently that even the pain in my back and behind my shoulder blades can be a symptom of angina. Prob made worse by muscle aches after coughing/wheezing !

I got chest pain when my breathing was bad before I was diagnosed. I wondered if it were stress from struggling to breathe. Since I've been diagnosed and given medication, I haven't had any pain. Sorry, I know it's not much help in knowing what's causing it, but at least you know you're not the only one.
Make sure you take some deep breaths i get chest pain when i shallow breath but a couple of deep breaths seems to ease it, also make sure your inhalers are not empty/low keep an eye on the dates you are due to finish that inhaler.
Could it be Costochondritis?: Inflammation of the connective tissue where the ribs attach to the breastbone (sternum). Characterized by dull to sharp pain at the front of the chest wall that may radiate to the back or abdomen.The main symptom of costochondritis is chest pain that varies in intensity. The pain may be perceived as pressure, sharp, or aching. Movement, exertion, and breathing deeply tend to aggravate symptoms. Many people with the condition report a recent illness with coughing or physically overexerting themselves. I hope this is helpful.

I'm inclined to agree with ccccc. I rarely have severe attacks now, but I know in the past I used to say my lungs were aching. All the chest muscles were heaved about as I struggled to breathe and they were just sore. They carried on being sore for a while after the attack was controlled, but it all went back to normal eventually.
I’ve found that I have this type of feeling when I have anxiety. Anxiety on top of asthma can feel very overwhelming but once I managed to calm my anxiety I found that chest pain went away. Hope you’re alright and start to feel better soon
Hard working muscles, tissue and bones will start to complain after a while, whether from laboured breathing or coughing. If I have an untreated chest infection my ribs etc will start to feel very tender. As asthmatics we can also hold ourselves a certain way that isn't relaxed and that can aggravate the situation.
If you're experiencing pain then it may be that your asthma treatment needs stepping up or changing. Unfortunately, sometimes flare ups are unavoidable.
You may benefit from seeing a respiratory physiotherapist to help with breathing exercises and other coping strategies during a flare up in order to put less stress on your body.
I have a Thumper massager that helps me as I get upper back/shoulder discomfort, whether from asthma or mechanical problems. There are all sorts of products available to help with sore muscles. I will resort to painkillers too, on occasion. My breathing is rubbish if my ribs and back are all tense and knotted.

I have had asthma since 12 and had various types of inhalers over the years. I don't know if anyone takes Fostaire and I was put on this about 10 years ago but ever since I seem to get more pain in my chest and pounding heart beat, dry throat and tightness does any one else have these symptoms. I don't know if its because I am getting older or what?
Hello, I have been on fostair a few weeks. Ow and it’s giving me a tight chest, I was on wave 50 but when I got covid bad I had to change it as it wasn’t working anymore and I have also become allergic to alcohol so don’t know if it is the fostair with this too
