I’m a 42 year old man. I’ve always had mild asthma since I was a teenager, but had got worse now at 42. I’ve smoked cigarettes a bit in the past and smoked cannabis which hadn’t helped my breathing capacity but I’ve been fairly fit at different stages in my life Where I would jog regularly and use gym. I’d not used any inhalers or asthma meds for a few years but since lockdown my asthma has got much worse and I’m now on seretide 250 2 puffs twice a day and spiriva respimat 2.5 micro grams 2 puffs once a day. I’m up and down with my asthma as some days it’s great and others I need ventolin once or twice as I can’t fully open my lungs and there’s deep restriction

Lung restriction and mucus blocking airways

Could it be that there is something in the house that is irritating your airways that since lockdown you have had more contact with?
Thanks for your reply! It could perhaps be dust in the house perhaps but stress and anxiety have played the biggest part I reckon. I’m a bit better at the moment perhaps as I’ve given up all dairy as I think it might be adding to the mucus problem on chest. I dint have as much now. I’ve gone down from 3 seretide 250 puffs a day to two now too. Still on the spiriva 2 puffs daily ontop.
Oh glad you are feeling better. There are some good dairy alternatives out there now. I don’t eat dairy at all now either. Yes stress is rotten. Have you had a go at short meditations? Oprah and Deepak have some nice ones available on YouTube. The key is not to judge your own meditation practice at all. Just the act of slowing your mind and body down for even a short time gives it a chance to have a break from the stressful thoughts and feelings. Even if it’s a nanosecond it is helpful.
Sorry about delay with this. Thanks for your kind and helpful words. I’m doing meditations everyday on my own with a guide on Spotify and it’s really helped. Difficult to get time on my own too as I have two girls - 5 and 8 and they don’t give me much of a break. I’m doing belly breathing too in through the nose for 6 seconds a d out through the mouth for 6 and pushing my tummy out on the inhale. I’m in much better control of my breathing now but I do have moments and little reminders that I’m asthmatic still.
