This has probably been mentioned on here but where would asthmatics be on the vaccination list? Don’t want to jump the queue, just curious 😊

If you look down the posts on here there is one from the Asthma UK nurses which explains it all.

But you won't be queue jumping at all as no-one will be called/invited until it's their turn.

If you have been shielding you are in group 4- before 15th of Feb, hopefully. If not, then I think it is group 6- end of March, beginning of April if all goes to plan.

I would really like some clarification on this. I've been looking at the gov.uk vaccine priority list and there's a lot of confusion (in my opinion) about the priority for non-severe asthmatics.

My source:

gov.uk/government/publicati...

For example, Severe asthmatics are classed as Clinically extremely vulnerable, so they go into priority 4 (as far as I can tell), but then when you look at the criteria for priority 6 it also has severe asthmatics listed alongside people with COPD (but not strictly severe COPD).

I'm not sure if they've made a misprint with the 'severe' being in both groups, or if they're explicitly excluding non-severe asthmatics from priority group 6.

The cynic in me tells me that they're keeping their options open so that they can leave asthmatics off priority 6 , but I have no evidence to back that up and would like a figure of authority to clarify the situation.

If I'm not in priority group 6, then i'm not in and I will continue to isolate, but it feels like the current document leaves a lot to be desired.

EDIT: should add, I have non-serve asthma, but i'm on symbicort twice nightly and daily and take montelukast, so this is why i'm keeping my fingers crossed that asthmatics are in priority 6

It is a mistake. CEV asthmatics are in 4, non-CEV in 6. Asthma UK explains here: healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...

I knew it.

Thank you so much for pointing me to this.

My understanding is that if you asked to shield and have been receiving government letters/emails then in group 4 because clinically extremely vulnerable. Clinically vulnerable are group 6.

I’m kinda also curious, my Asthma is fairly mild, much better since I’ve got a bit fitter, but I also suffer with high blood pressure. I’d class myself as tier 6, but would this be right? It also sounds like if I/we are we could be getting it further along because they are talking about doing the police and shop workers next after the 70s and upwards, there’s also the supply worries of the vaccine, I feel we could be waiting til mid-end summer at this rate
