Can my friend take vitamin D3 & cod liver oil capsules whilst on strong medication for High Blood Pressure? Thanking you...

“Check that vitamin D is suitable for you

Do not use this service if you:

are under the age of 18, live in a nursing or residential care home - we will send supplements directly to the home where you live, are already taking vitamin D or other supplements that contain vitamin D, including cod liver oil

are already taking vitamin D that your doctor has prescribed or recommended - continue to take the dose they recommended

(Do not take the supplements if you have any of these) medical conditions;

high vitamin D levels, kidney stones (now or in the past), too much parathyroid hormone  (hyperparathyroidism), cancer (some cancers can lead to high calcium levels), severe kidney disease,  sarcoidosis” nhs.uk/get-vitamin-d-supple...

According to the NHS website they should be ok, but if they aren’t sure they should talk to their doctor about it. Or they could ask on the BHF forum. But we wouldn’t be able to give any specifics as we don’t know what drug they are on, or if they are controlled. So if in doubt they need to speak to their doc. Hope this helps.

Thank you EmmaF91 for your kind reply, we were just wondering if it would be ok taking vitamins, my friend lives at home & is only on medication for Hypertension, she does not take any other medication..x

I'm on blood pressure pills and I've taken high dose VitD3 and fish oil tablets for years without a problem. NB that fish oil rather than fish liver oil is much better, just for future reference. I use Bioglan Super Fish Oil as it's not derived from fish liver.
