I have spinal stenosis and unsuccessful lumber spinal surgery , I also arthritis in lumber, thoracic and cervical spine. Plus knees and ankles. I have had one hip replacement. My problem is after numerous spinal nerve block injections and radio frequency treatments on my lumber region, I have been written off by the NHS. I cannot take NSAIDS as years of taking them have given me stomach ulcers. I was prescribed gabapentin and pregabalin which helped nerve pain from my spine but I gained 3and a half stone. I came off them and managed to get my weight down. Now I am at my wits end as to a medication tgat will help but not cause weight gain. Any ideas gratefully received.

Gabapentin and pregabalin alternatives that don’t cause weight gain

Hi Newby31. I'm not sure this is the right forum for your question. Somehow you've posted your question to the asthma/respiratory forum.
If you use the search bar in the top right corner, you'll be able to find the best forum for your question. All the best.
I think there's a "pain concern" forum, if you pop that into the search box in the top right corner.
You could ask your Doctor about Duloxetine as an alternative. I cared for someone who was intolerant to gabapentin and pregabalin for pain control, but found Duloxetine both efficient and tolerable. Plus a bonus aspect of calming anxiety. Worth talking it over as an idea. Good luck 🤞
Thank you Beech. I can definitely speak to my GP about Duloxetine.
