No rest from my asthma in last six months

Call to the Doctors today after my asthma got worse after a cold

Another course of oral steroids and antibiotics and told to book a COVID test.

aural steroidsTried to book on line with no joy.

(Site experiencing higher levels of activity try again later)

Then tried to book one by phone and put on hold for 55 minutes to be told there where no tests left. The operator then told me try again after 10am or 8pm as that is when the new tests are made available.

They should make that clear on the Gov COVID web site.

I have to book another asthma review with the nurse in a weeks time. This will be my fourth review in four months.

The nurse is great and we are trying lots of new treatments and lifestyle changes that might help.

This has been my worst year in memory and it’s starting to worry me is this how it’s always be for me know

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.

I'm with you on 2020 being a pants year all round. I had Covid or similar in March and 5 months later I am still trialling new inhalers to try and get my lungs under control. No asthma before that since I was a child. The doctors/resp nurses insist that this is post-viral, but I'm also starting to think that this may be my new normal. I don't like it one bit.

The Covid testing has turned into an utter fiasco, hasn't it? Did you manage to get one booked after 8pm?

I managed to get one this afternoon hopefully will get the results in a couple days. The news tonight highlighted issues with delays in results.

So I have my fingers crossed 🤞

Hi,

Sorry you are having a rough time. I think it has been a strange year for asthma. I’m glad you have a good asthma nurse who is helping you and I really hope you manage to come up with a good treatment plan soon!

Also really hope you can sort your Covid test and that it’s negative!

I'm so sorry, that sounds so frustrating and I've been there in terms of worrying a low point is the "new normal". Do you have an asthma action plan and step up step down plan? Are you on biologics? It could be that you need to add a few meds for the time being to get your asthma under control and then try stepping back down again from them in 6-9 months.

Glad you are getting lots of reviews and staying on top of it in spite of feeling so awful :/

Yes my asthma nurse is great and is always checking up with me. I have another review in a week and if no better she going to get me referred

Ok good. If you're not on biologics you could ask about those--they are life-changing for a lot of us on here.

Not what you're looking for?
