I am 65 years old and take Qvar inhaler 2 puffs twice a day along with Serevent inhaler 2 puffs twice a day plus 1 Montelucast tablet at night. Do I self isolate ? The info is confusing.
Self-isolate ?: I am 65 years old and... - Asthma Community ...
Self-isolate ?
It's the doses of the inhalers that are the key thing. What doses are you on and how many puffs a day?
Qvar is 50 micrograms 2 puffs in morning 2 puffs in evening, Serevent is 25 micrograms, 2 puffs in morning, 2 puffs in evening
The Qvar on the list is a higher dose than yours (the actual inhaler and the overall daily dose) and the serevent isn't on it....so even though you take montelukast as well, the steroid level keeps you below the shielding threshold.
But you should still consider yourself vulnerable and avoid unnecessary contact with others ....and all that stuff.
That's my understanding of it anyway, though anyone can choose to shield if they wish to.
Yes, I agree with Anniecath. Like you I am I the group below those who are very vulnerable, sort of similar medication to you, but I am nearly 71. I only go into the garden, and I am pushing my husband to accept it is better he does not go to the shops (he is 70). He is concerned to keep me protected, so he knows what I am talking about.
Thank you for replying. Feeling really jittery + some people behaving as if I am being a wimp. Its true, I am, but I am not ready to die yet and have just got over a lung infection going on for two months even though I feel quite fit at the moment and would rather play safe. Also interesting to note that plenty of people ignoring advice as the main road near my front door is chocobloc with camper vans and people coming on holiday !! I live in west cornwall…….Please stay well and safe both of you xx
