So the doctor has lowered my symbicort and put me on the smart plan, so i use it in the morning and evening but i can also use it up to 6 times during the day if needed. but the biggest change is that i have not had a cigarette since monday and i have cut down on the fizzy pop drinks. Next step is to improve my fitness and loose some weight, if anyone has any tips on this that would be great.
Does reflux effect anyones asthma like its hard to get a full breath etc? I think this is one of my issues but the doc has given me esomeprazole so i will try that.
Any other advice on what will help my asthma and weight loss journey will be greatly recieved
Thanks

I'm on a similar journey! For me I avoid all sugars...no crisps, biscuits etc and also I eat in an 8 hour window, (usually 10am to 6pm) lots of water too! I've started at a ladies gym....it has been so helpful with a plan of gentle exercises, never believed it would work but it does, less joint pain too. Slow weight loss and muscle gain! You could try exercise bands at home too...I do, cheap in argos...and staircase in every advert break when watching tv.!! Anyway...good luck and laugh a lot!
Crisps put wieght on me straight away and I avoid them except as a treat!
My husband is having knee surgery and needs to loose weight. He has done the 5 : 2 diet before and found it works well. Basically you are on a diet Monday to Friday and can then eat normally at the weekends.
I'll share this simply as a personal experience, not as a guarantee it'll work for anyone else, but it's been quite the eye opener.
My Asthma has been life-long and I'm 56. Weighing 125 kg, heading toward morbid obesity and on daily Slo-Phyllin, Prednisolone, Symbicort and Ventolin.
The prospect of a programme of injections going forward spurred me to lose some wight with a low-carb, low-sugar diet, plus exercise.
6 months later and 25 kg lighter, I've found a dramatic change to the point that I'm reducing Slo-Phyllin and Prednisolone gradually (under medical supervision of course) and haven't touched my Ventolin this year.
I doubt weight-loss of itself is the whole answer, but simply having to carry less mass around has had a much greater impact than I anticipated rather than medicating my way around my condition.
thats awesone, im nearly 3 weeks smoke free and im going to the gym 3-4 times a week. i do struggle with my diet though. What would your daily meal plan look like if you dont mind me asking?
Happy to share. The principle is LCHF (Low carb High Fat). Breakfast (for me) is either a 5% Greek Yoghurt or a Kvarg with some no added sugar Alpen sprinkled on.
Lunch, I'll have a tomato soup with a couple of cheese crackers, or a small portion of cooked chicken or fish with some veggies (Peppers and sweetcorn are my favourites).
But I avoid potato, pasta, rice, bread, pastry pretty much completely and keep the portion sizes under 150g of protein (I have as much veggies as I like).
The knock-on effect on my asthma has been to go from an 'Asthma Control Test' score of 7/30 to 27/30 (because I am still getting out of breath training for a 5k run). Carrying 25kg less weight probably helps.
