I have had asthma all my life but it was under control until 3 years ago. Since then, every time i get a cold, i end up getting a cough and my lungs/airways end up being filled with mucus for weeks, if not months.
I am usually very physically active but this completely stops me from exercising and i’m putting on weight at the same time (which is my fault, i know).
Does anyone have any methods of reducing the amount of time with mucus filled lungs after a cold?
Thanks!

Steaming helps some but triggers others... if you don’t have issues with hot/steamy baths/showers you should be ok and good for clearance.
As SheilaC said the active cycle of breathing is also good for clearance.
It’s also worth mentioning to your GP if you haven’t already cause it may be that you need to increase your meds during/post colds. Colds are very common triggers for asthma issues and it’s not unheard of for asthmatics to increase meds during them/recovery. Carbocisteine is also good to thin the mucus and make it easier to bring up.
Thanks. I have briefly tried steam and it does help get rid of it at the time. But i still have a mucus cough for a month or 2 afterward. The mucus just seems to come back
