Same symptoms

These are the same symptoms as I've been experiencing over the last 4 years, gradually getting worse. Aching every day, worse in neck and shoulders but can be anywhere. Muscle cramps, headaches, pins and needles in fingers and feet. No energy, have to sit down after vacuuming, changing the bed anything that requiress more effort. Poor sleep, pain at night. Had an mri, xrays, seen a neuroligist and numerous blood tests. When I suggested fibromyalgia doctor said it can't be as it would have shown up on blood tests. Since learnt there is no way to confirm fibro, just a process of elimination. Recently my chest feels tight, not wheezy and an aching back. Had asthma for 30 years, but well controlled. Getting a diagnosis for fibromyalgia can take years I'm told, but interested to know if asthma and allergies can be affected.

Fibro could be a possibility. There is a Fibromyalgia group in health unlocked too which you can join to share your symptoms and see what others can relate to.

Would be worth getting your GP to refer you to a rheumatologist for diagnosis. I have a lot of similar symptoms to yours and was diagnosed 10 years ago with Fibro and I have brittle asthma but they are now wondering if both diagnoses for current symptoms aren’t either and it may be something else?! They are looking at possible Myositis at the moment but again, is a long process of elimination to get there ...... been a year so far!

Good luck with getting some answers x

Many thanks, I will have to join the group.

Asked for referral to a rheumatologist last Monday and have a telephone appointment on the 13th with the same doctor who said it couldn't be Fibromyalgia as it didn't show up in my blood tests! Just would like to know what it is, would certainly help ease the anxiety. Thanks again for your help, Happy New Year and best of luck with getting answers. x

Would be lovely to know what the doc thinks would show up in a blood test for Fibro as there isn’t one🤔😳

My thoughts exactly, I wish I knew this at the time, I would have contradicted her. This time I am ready for her.

I've got e-asthma and fibro. Unfortunately there are few in the medical profession that understand either.

I am beginning to think it's more to do with keeping us working and not able to claim benefits. Paid tax and national insurance all my life now 60 needing a bit of help and getting nowhere. At the point of losing my home, husband been made unemployed, as we're both 60 jobs are few and far between. Anxiety and depression levels 100%.

I feel for you. I'm 59 and having to go back part time as I cant afford to retire and having looked at PIP rules dont think I would qualify. Worked all my life. Actually dreading going back when my current fit note runs out in few weeks time. I could write a book on time/energy taken to get a diagnosis and treatment. With e-asthma still waiting for treatment and for fibro just rely on ibuprofen.

Its a struggle many of us never thought we'd have to deal with. To be let down by the very people who are supposed to be helping you is soul destroying. I have the utmost respect for pretty much all nhs workers but my own gp seems to be on a one woman crusade to save the government money.

I do hope you find answers, it's a pretty miserable life when its taken years to ask for help and have the door slam in your face.

Yes, and then the doctors who do help get into trouble from the government for diagnosing too many "ill" people.
