Chronic cough
I can't give you any medical advice, but I do know coughs can last years then disappear as rapidly as they appeared. You should go back to your doctor and insist on seeing a consultant as you find this cough so distressing. If it is asthma, what treatment do you have to help it? - and if it isn't working, what else is there? Good luck!
Maria, I agree with Chrissiemons - you will need to see a respiratory specialist. But you don't mention breathlessness or wheezing - just a cough & pain. Asthma usually shows symptoms of lung inflammation leading to shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and/or wheezing. Sometimes a cough.
Definitely pursue the tests, results and hopefully an appointment with a specialist.
Hope you get answers & a resolution.
See you GP. They will help you
